– Thanks to the many Hurricane fans who keep writing and sending their best wishes to the 2002 Hurricane Football Team!
From Luietenant Harper: Norfolk, Virginia: Those officials won the game, not Ohio State. In the last seven years, of all the games that I’ve seen this football team lose, this one was worse than the 47-0 doom at FSU in 1997. But there’s one thing that always happens, THE HURRICANES REFOCUS, RELOAD, REGAIN CONFIDANCE, AND RETURN TO GLORY!YOU WILL BE BACK, WITH A VENGANCE!
Josh Miller: Norman,Oklahoma: hey just forget about this years season and use it as motavation for next year. Practice hard and prepare even harded and you will be successful just like the past two seasons.Ken Dorsey i am still your biggest fan no matter what happens
Your fan josh miller
Daniel M. Newell: San Diego, Ca: The eye of the storm has fallen on Coral Gables and now everything is quiet. All the other school have turned off their radars and left their stations. Unaware of the storm brewing in South Florida. One thing is unique about a hurricane and that is, the back of the storm is always worse than the front. I have no doubt that this Hurricane team is the best in the country and I have no doubt believing that you all aready know that. I know that words cannot take away the pain you all must feel and I asure you this. For everyone of you that represent Miami Football on the field, For everyone of you that suits up and take it to the MAX week in and week out there is a thousand of us your fans who would give it all for one play. We thank you for every tear shead, for every time you blead, for every bead of sweat that dropped from your head. Thank you and may GOD Bless each and everyone of you and may HE continue to shine on Hurricane football.
Thank you
Jerrell & Cheri Bass, Windermere Florida: Hurricanes, Thank you for a great year of football. To us you guys are the real National Champs. Keep up the good, hard work!!!
Greg Shanower: Stow, Ohio : Dear Football team,Living in Ohio and being one of the biggest Hurricanes fan is not an easy thing to do right now. Despite all that I just wanted to let you know that my wife and I are still wearing the orange and green proudly.
I know we will be back next year with more desire to win the big game. Just keep this game in the back of your minds for motivation to work harder for next years Goals.
GO CANES
Thank you for a great season.Greg Shanower
I would like it if this could possibly be forwarded to the powers that be so that my opinion, as well as the opinion of many other can be voiced. My name is Karen N. Phillipps, MD graduate of University of Miami BS, 1993 and I would like to speak to someone about the travesty that was again committed against our glorious team last night. i sat up and watched all of the game and I have to tell you that I am hoping that the outcome of this game is contested because there were many aggregious acts of bad calls made against our team, especially the call of pass interference that caused OSU to score in OT (Please pay attention to the bottom of the screen when the referee who was closest to the play called it an incomplete pass, but some arbitrary referee who could have seen the entire play go down called the play against us) . There were at least 3-4 other calls that could make anyone think that these referees had to have been paid off-the so call stripping of the ball after the interception and the no call that was made in OT on 4th and 14 for OSU when the receiver clearly pushed off fromt he defender in order to catch the ball. I hope that this is followed up on because the legacy of our team/school is at stake. As far as I am concerned, we won that game and they have stolen the national championship from us. T his the second time that bad calls/referee-ing has cost us a game. The time previous to this was the game vs Washington, where at least 4-5 calls were questionable and it again appeared as if the referees were “in” on the outcome.I do hope that you will contest this because this is a crying shame that the team that “won” did not actually win the game….. fairly.Sincerely,Karen Phillipps, MD,Very Proud Alumni
Even though I am holding it down for Miami at FAMU here in Tallahassee, my heart will always be in my hometown, Miami. I would like to say congraulations to the entire football team. A special “hug” goes to the Miami Northwestern class of ’99 Canes: Jerell Weaver and Vernon Carey. Also hugs goes out to David Willams, Maurice Sikes, and Andre Johnson. The 305 has a commanding presence here in Tallahassee and we will always be behind you. To Willis, weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Stay strong and know that you have supporters here in Tallahassee whether you win or lose. (There are a few of us who are brave enough to ride through FSU with our UM car flags showing. :-)! Luv you guys!!!!!!

Chris Wall: Phoenix, AZ: NOBODY has the work ethic as much as the University of Miami Hurricanes do and that pride will will last a life time. Despite winning and losing, it’s also about “worth”, and we deserve to be right there on top ALL of the time. Our program is only gettin better guys, keep workin hard and tearin it up.
Chad Dawosn: Merrillville Indiana: I just wanted to say good game and i think you should of won…..and im a freshmen in high school and when igot to college i want to play for the real Champs and that is miami i been wanting to play on this football team since startd to play football and i hope yall win it next year……….
Brandon H. Bobb: Grand Coteau, Louisiana: I’ve been a die-hard fan of Hurricane football since 1990. I’ve never enjoyed watching and cheering for a college team like I do for you guys. No matter what the circumstance win or lose, I am a Hurricane fan to the end. I was mad angry and hurt when thos bastards from Ohio State basically stole the National Title away from you guys, but as the true champions you are you didn’t complain nor wine. You accepted defeat gracefully and with class. In my personal opinion. That 4th down and 3 call was a terrible one and should not have been made. I wish you all the best of luck next season and you definitely will be back!!!!! Champions never die out they just keep reloading!!!
Mary Jane O’Brien: Islamorada, FL: How proud we are of the class you showed at the Fiesta Bowl. Although both my husband and I are Ohio State graduates, we have been Canes fans for many years and went to the game as Canes fans. Congratulations on a great run. We look forward to next season and another National Championship season. GO CANES!
Gus Perez: Coral Gables, FL.: Fantastic season guys! You should be proud of all you’ve accomplished and hold your heads high. We’ll be back next year!
derek thompson, indpls, ind: ken dorsey is the greatest qb in miami history,i hope dorsey go to my favorite team the dallas cowboys.the hurricanes were cheated. no matter how many commercial ohio st. has 4 there victory .everybody knows that was not pass interference that victory was gift wrap for the big 10 because that what the ncaa wanted now we have a national champion from every major conference in the country. ncaa did not want a repeat champion.that why they cheated;it was all for the ghost of woody hayes.hit the weight and next year blow everybody out nxt yr gocanes.
Patsy Loughman: Jacksonville, Florida: What a devastating blow to our team. I cannot begin to tell you Willis, how your injury impacted me. I was at the Fiesta Bowl with my traveling companion, my son, and when you went down I grabbed onto him. We felt your pain and share your sorrow. Just remember that all your fans are out here praying for you a speedy recovery. God be with you and your family, especially your mother. Keep the faith as I will try to do. I want to watch you once more walk onto the field so you can see and hear what your fans think of you. Thank you team for giving me and my family another great year of football. You are the best and still #1 in our eyes. We love you guys!
Brad Clark: Fredericksburg, Virginia: Guys, I’ve been a Hurricanes fan for almost twenty years now, you’ve come along way and regardless of the outcome of the game you’ll be just fine next year and will play for the national title.Very Respectfully,Brad Clark
Manny Rivera2City : Ft. Bragg N.C.3Email : madrican82nd2000@hotmail.com4Message : Congrats on an excellent season. We here in the Army in Korea agreed that you were cheated the championship game. Keep your heads up, and we’ll be back next year. Good luck on your rehab Willis.Sincerly,Manny Rivera
Bill Humphreys: Pensacola,Fla: Well first of congratulations on a great season it’s just a shame it had to end the way it did. There were a few bone head plays and that pass interference call ,and last but not least some terrible offense and defensive play calling schemes that killed us.Ohio state does not and never will come close to ever having the talent we have at Miami 5 turnovers and troy state will beat you. Once again congratulations and continued sucess in 2003.Thanks for the great memories,Bill
p.s give my best for a speedy recovery to willis
Earl Rubley: Miami, Fl.: I am very proud of you all. You had a Great Season and you played with Pride and Class. Now I think people across the country understand what you have accomplished over the past 3 years. They finally understand how hard it is to go undefeated, not just for a season but for 34 games. Thank You for representing the University of Miami with the class and sportsmanship you displayed. I know you will have another terrific season in 2003. Best of Luck and GO CANES
Earl and Mary Jane Rubley
mike wiley: mountville PA: CONGRADULATIONS TEAM on another outstanding year. All hurricane fans everywhere know who won the game! I would like to Thank Dorsey and the other Seniors for all there contributions over the last 4 years and keeping Miami as the best football team in the nation, everyone else, we will see you guys next year as we start a new streak. Get well soon Willis.
Anthony Spencer: Mansfield,Ohio: I have been a Canes fan since the first National title. We got 5 titles and next year will make 6. You guys are the best football team in America and I am coming down to Miami for the West Virginia game. Go the team of the 80’s, 90’s and the new century
Jed K. Rose: Houston, TX: Hello Hurricanes, Just be proud that y’all made it to the Championship Game. So we were one of the fates that suffered a bad call from the 1st. overtime. by the referee. If they had instant review in NCAA then the world would have seen that YES YOU ARE THE CHAMPS. I’m really looking forward to next season already. Believe me I have a earful of these Texas Longhorn fans about their “Great” team of next season. All I have to tell them is why did they lose to A&M then. If they would have won that game then they had a chance to play for the Championship Game. I’m not going to ramble on forever but I know the Canes will be back with Brock Berlin as the starter. I believe we will finally have a quarterback that teams have to worry about starting this coming season. Good Luck and best wishes to Willis and all the injured players.
Tristan Trotter: Dallas,Tx: Well I never follow your season so closely, but I did. I really took the loss really hard I couldn’t believe it. You guys are the best so I just know you guys will back on top. As the national champs so go kick butt next year. And you better believe I will be sitting in front of my T.V each time the hurricanes play. I may even try to get down there to catch the greatest team in the country. Anyway Good Luck next season and bring the title back to Miami. Love Always, Tristan(Huge Hurricane Fan)P.S. The hurricanes will always be natinal champs in my heart.
kyle williams: hawthorne, ca: what’s up fellas,I am proud of you guys. you went down fighting hard. that shows championship character. Yes I was talking all the trash to these haters out here in Cali. they claim Miami has the weekest schedule compare to USC. yes SC has a hard schedule and I told them when it comes to playing the big boys the Canes show up. History shows that fact. You have a talented team the program is back. Keep your heads up and use this game for motivation next year because well all know Ohio State was handed the national championship. they could not walk on the same field as the Canes. Get your fire back and confidence back. Most of all get that championship back to football university, Miami university. McGahee if your reading this keep your head up and ask God for strength. You will be back at miami running the ball. I see you and the boys bringing back the national championship and I hope you guys play those Buckeyes for a sweet hurricane revenge. later. what up Sean Taylor keep! up that coverage and that hard hitting. later fellas see you in 2003. Kyle no.1 hurricane fan.
Sean Stevens: Grove City, Ohio: I Just wanted to wish you good luck next year. Being from just outside Columbus and a Columbus firefighter it was hard to listen to all the people talk about the buckeyes as if they were the greatest team alive and the Big Ten was so much of a better conference then the Big East. So if you dont mind win it all next year and hopefully you play the bucks and destroy them so I can talk smack to all my buddies.ps get well W.McGahee
Selah Bishop: Jacksonville, FL born in Miami: Thanks for a great season. The dynasty is back and they can’t take it from us again. New season ahead and a new purpose. 1. Return everyone healthy, Gore and Macgahee. 2. Play each game like it’s the national championship, who cares who the opponents are. 3. Return the trophy back to Miami. You guys can do it. I’ll be right there by the TV if I can’t make it to the games.
Hugo Chavez-Rey: Parker, CO: I just want to send my congrats for a GREAT SEASON, final results of the Siesta Bowl (pun intended) not withstanding.I am sickened by what happened, but I will choose not to dwell on the injustice.I am a rabid Canes fan and have been for almost 40 years. I bleed Green and Orange. I am truly saddened by the injury to Willis and I’m sure there are many prayers for his complete recovery.I look forward to next season when the Canes will return with a vegeance. Big East and others look out.Thank you to coach Coker for conducting a classy campaign. Keep up the good work.God Bless all the Canes and coaches.Whoosh! Whoosh! Go Canes!!
Brad Arendt: Naples, FL: It took me a few days until I started feeling a little better, about the loss. I’ll never fully get over it, but I know we will be there next year. Hopefully, AJ, DJ, and Vilma stick arond another year. Whoever reads this, give my best wishes to Willis McGahee, I feel so bad for him. I know he will be 4.1 when he gets back though. See you guys at La Tech, GO CANES!!!!!Brad Arendt
