Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) — – Eagerly awaiting opening night, the University of Miami Convocation Center staff has officially moved in the $48 million facility. The Hurricanes will host the University of North Carolina Tarheels in the inaugural game at the Convocation Center on Saturday, January 4, at 7 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
General admission tickets for January 4 are on-sale through Ticketmaster, call 305-358-5885 or visit www.ticketmaster.com. All UM basketball tickets are also available through 800-GO-CANES. The UM Convocation Center box office will open January 2. (M-F 10am – 6pm, Sat. -10am – 4pm, Sun. -Closed)
The University of Miami Convocation Center, a 7,000 seat multipurpose entertainment facility located on the Coral Gables campus, will host concerts, family shows, trade shows, lecture series, sporting events and the University of Miami men’s and women’s basketball teams.
The University of Miami Convocation Center is managed by Global Spectrum, a subsidiary of Philadelphia-based Comcast-Spectacor, which owns the First Union Center, the First Union Spectrum, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Philadelphia Phantoms, Flyers Skate Zone, Comcast SportsNet, and the Bowie Baysox, the Delmarva Shorebirds and the Frederick Keys, all affiliates of the Baltimore Orioles.
