Women's Basketball Hosts The Gatorade Holiday Classic

CORAL GABLES, Fla.- The University of Miami women’s basketball team (6-3) returns to action hosting the annual Gatorade Holiday Classic, Dec. 28-29 at Knight Sports Complex.
Cleveland State (1-6) and Maryland (5-4) meet in the first round at 5 p.m. Saturday, followed by the Hurricanes vs. William & Mary (3-4) at 7 p.m. Play continues Sunday with the consolation game at 5 p.m. and the championship at 7 p.m.
The Hurricanes are coming off an 85-66 win over Eastern Michigan last Saturday.
Tamara James (Dania, Fla.) led the team to victory scoring a game-high 24 points.
The freshman earned BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season. She averaged 27.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.0 steals in the 3-0 week for UM.
James also leads the UM offense averaging 25.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
The Hurricanes are undefeated at home this season with a perfect 5-0 record in Knight Sports Complex.
William & Mary lost its last outing, falling 75-62 to Richmond on Friday Dec. 20. Sophomore
Megan Baier leads the Tribe averaging 11.3 points per game.
