Here's Where You Were for the Miami-FSU Showdown!

Oct. 1, 2002

visit Hurricane Headquarters now! –

Frank Perez, Miami, FL: Section W, South Side. Screaming: SACK RIX, again! Go Canes!!!!

Drew, Morgan, Fayetteville, NC: I will be at work deployed in Seeb, Oman not being able to see the game and hating it! Go Canes beat the Seminoles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John Williams, Columbus, OH: I will watch the game in my house. I get so into the game I have to hear the fans, the announcers, the players. I turn my surround on which emphasizes the background noise (fans) and it’s like I’m there. I have to be totally focussed on the action and can’t be in big crowds. This year my two year-old son (hopefully a Cane in 2018) will join me and he gets excited when I get excited. So….Go Canes!

John Kontodiakos, Tarpon Springs, FL: I will be at my son’s football game and then we will rush home to finish watching the game.

Christopher McGinnis , Blue Bell, PA : Sadly I will be unable to watch a live broadcast of “the game of games”. I will be there in heart and spirit howexer. Right now I am thousands of miles from the Orange Bowl in Parma, Italy. I have been living in Genoa, Italy for the past month and have been missing the canes all the while. My gameday however should be next monday hopefully by then the tape my mother has recorded will have reached me. I could really w?use your help in setting up a proper gameday experience here in Italy.

Timothy, Allen, Franklinton N.C.: Will be @ home with the wife. Thinking of putting down some extra flooring. Last year with the two close games with Boston College and Virginia Tech. I was jumping up and down so hard , who knows, i may have damaged my flooring structure !! I will have my ice cold Green bottles of Henie’s and my Orange cheese dip ready. And my bird koko who is green and orange hooting and whistling with Jill and myself. I use to live and go to the games when i lived in Hollywood. I sure miss South Florida and most of all be their with my CANES!!!!!! I hope we , no i know we will beat bobby and his semi-holes ! Go Canes !! There’s a cane over here in N.C. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mykal Donathan, Miami, FL: I will be enjoying the slaughter at a friend’s house with about 15-30 other loyal Canes’ fans, and possibly a Nole and a Gator mixed in to make fun of.

Matthew Witek, Brighton, MI: At 12 pm. (noon) on SAT. I will be at:Gate 4 Section: H Row 47 Seat 23. In the Orange Bowl in Miami, FL to watch the greatest “in-state” rivalry GAME of the YEAR. See ya there..!!!

Frederick S. Ricker, APO AE: Ramstein Air Base, Germany!!

United States Air Force

GO CANES!!!!

<>Aaron Galarowicz, Madison, WI: Notre Dame Stadium for the Irish and Pittsburgh. In South Bend for the Irish? Not quite. I unfortunately have to settle on ND because I can’t make it to the Orange Bowl. Luckily I have my tv all ready for Saturday so I can cheer on the ‘Canes to another dismantling of the Seminoles. Go ‘Canes!

Steven J Massey, lake worth This may be boring, but I will be home with my wife. Now that does not seem like a big deal but she is a noles fan. We acknowledge each other’s existence in the week before the game, we wish each team the best of luck, and then we watch the game together with our 14 month old. I insist he wears hurricane colors and the wife agrees. And we watch the game.

When we first met, FSU was considered the better team, and we struggled with that. But now, she loves the Canes although she wishes the Seminoles would win. But she does not expect to win this year. Of course, I fully expect to win but anything can happen in college football. If the noles win, well good for them, and I will suffer for a year. But if we win, I won’t gloat. I love my wife despite her allegiance. I know many other Canes fans are in the same predicament.

Mostly, I hope for a good game, injury free and both teams play their best. To the victor goes the spoils. May the spoils be with us! 🙂

Lets GoCanes

Derek Sheets, Hollywood, FL: I will be at Cafe Iguana in Hollywood wearing my green and orange screaming my lungs out while drinking some beers rooting for my favorite team. THE CANES!!!

John Lalley, Oldwick, New Jersey: I will be attending my high schools football game. I am the head athletic trainer for the team.

Kelly P. LaCombe, Port Orange

Larry Coffee, Miami Lakes, FL : I will be in the end zone of the Orange Bowl on Saturday whatching the Hurricanes beat the Florida State suckers down to the ground.

I need the UM fan kit to display at Gilly’s Pub 44, and to wear on Saturdays to tease my neighbor who hates Miami with all his heart. He’s a Notre Dame fan who needs to be put in his place. I’ve been representing UM in Daytona for 10 years since I moved from SoFla. Go Canes!!!!!!!!!!

Angela Sellati, Miami, Fl : I’ll be with a bunch of my buddies watching the game at Moe’s in Coconut Grove.

Half of the group are FSU fans and the rest of us are Canes, so it might get a little rowdy.

Go Canes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael Thomas, Barlow, FLI will be at the Orange Bowl with my wife Betsy. Sec F Row 8. Watching Miami beat fsu and becoming State Champs and on their way to becoming National Champs.

GO CANES!!!!!!

Terry King, Springfield, MO : I’ll be in Missouri enjoying the spanking the Cane’s will put to theNoles. After that I’ll root for those sorry Sooners over Texas. I went to the Missouri-Oklahoma game and not only was I the only one there proudly wearing my Hurricans jersey, I’ve gotta be the only Cane fan in the whole state. I got dumped on pretty bad. The whole midwest here is soooooooo jealous of the #1 Canes it’s rediculous. So, as the state of Missouri’s Miami Hurricane Amassador- the mighty green and orange will never be misrepresented, underrepresented, or ever let down. GO CANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rob Booth, Smyrna, GA: I’ll be battling in the belly of the beast! My wife is an FSU Grad, my sisters go to FSU, my parents are boosters of the school, yet I stand alone as the only intelligent football fan in the family. I will be taunting them mercilessly as they did when I watched us lose 43-0 in Tally in 1997.

We will be over at an FSU alumni’s house watching the game. Sperading good cheer as only us Cane fans can do!!!!!!!

GO CANES! Beat fsu!!!!!!!!

Bonnie Stanziale P., West Orange: In my living room,West Orange, NJ

Bruce-Kevin Gidney, Morganton,NC: In church praying “we dont beat them too bad.

William Hurley, Wilton Manors, Florida: If I can get tickets, I’ll be at the game if not I’ll be in front of the T.V.

Gina Manfredi, Staten Island , NY I will be holding my CANES v FSU homecoming party in NYC! This is the first year I will not attend the rivalry game! I was there vs UConn last week and wish I could see the Noles’ go down! GO Canes!

Josh Frank, Coral Gables, Florida: I will be in the student section, cheering and going hoarse. I will be surrounded by all of the beautiful people (Miami students) across the field from all of the LOSERS who made their way down from Tallahassee. Final score: 48 – 21, UM.

1Name : Ari R Magedoff, Seattle, WA: I will be in Seattle, Washington and up at 9:00AM to watch the Canes take care of business against the Noles.

Go Canes!!!!

Nancy Miller, Akron, Ohio: Even though I live in Akron, Ohio, I’ll be in my Hilton hotel room in Baltimore cheering as loud as I can. I’m headed there to work on a broadcast consulting job where my husband and I work seven days a week. But I’ve told my boss that I can’t miss the biggest game of the year. He understands. Go Canes!

Richard M Schmunk, Los Angeles, CA: Home in Los Angeles

JONATHAN W SAAR, LAKE WORTH, FLORIDA: AT MY HOME. I AM MAKING A REPLICA OF A FOOTBALL FIELD AS LARGE CENTREPIECE FOR MY TABLE. IT WILL HAVE GOAL POSTS AND A LARGE FOOTBALL IN THE MIDDLE MADE OUT OF ORANGE CARNATIONS WITH A GREEN LETTER M. IT WILL ME MOUNTED ON A PIECE OF SOD WITH WHITE LINES FOR THE YARD LINES. WE HAVE 2 TV’S GOING. ABOUT 10-15 PEOPLE WILL BE COMING OVER.

THANKSJONATHAN

Patrick Underwood, Jacksonville, FL: On Saturday, my friends and I are going to do some barbeque around 11:30. We will all have are gameday Hurricanes jersey on, and will be ready for the game. We had the biggest party fot the UF game, but sine this is the first time I am not going be at the UM-FSU game since 93, we are having the biggest party yet. My two brothers are Noles fans, and they will be there with some friends, that way the rivalry is more intense and cause we are going to win. During the game, none of us will even leave the room, not for comercials or anything. We are going to have our traditional touchdown handshakes, and after the win we will do our “Canes Scream.” Go Canes. Can’t wait ’til baseball season.

Chris Paight, Tallahassee, FL: That’s easy…anywhere in town! Being in Tallahassee means that no matter where I go, there will be plenty of Seminole fans to harrass as the ‘Canes march to victory!

Jason Frodge, Davie, Florida: Sec. H, Row 13, Seat 1

Charles L. Fountain II, Washington, PA: I go to a small school just south of Pittsburgh and my family had season tickets to the Orange Bowl until I went to college. There a few students frpm Florida here and they all hate the hurricanes becaus they are Florida and FSU fans and so we are going to get together at the local bar and drink and argue about who is the best. Florida fans already know, I sat in the student section at the swamp for that game.

GO CANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ryan anderson adams, ormond beach, florida: Local Miami fans (about 100) gather at George and Becky Sidor’s Ormond Beach home annually for this event. Deep fried turkey, salads, desserts, and drinks to compliment the football game. Almost as much fun as being there!

jacob johnson , greensburg, pa: this is one of the games i have circled on my schedule flordia state is always a great game so why not throw a great party. Every saturday me and a donzen cane heads in western Pa get together to watch the canes on tv and espn gameplan if its not shown here. this week is special.party list includesgreen and orange sandwich ringof course beer w/ green or orange food coloring it looks nasty but it is neat see the team colors being sucked down.the tv room is decorated as well as flags out side so people know it si goin down and a hurricane is coming through. win or lose(which wont happen) we still booze. GO CANES BEAT FSU

ANA ORTA IBIS, MIAMI,FL: MIDNIGHTMISTIQUE@AOL.COM: I WILL BE AT THE GAME ON SATURDAY AND WELL AFTERWARDS IF THE CANES DEFEAT FSU I WILL MAKE SURE THAT I WILL BE PARTYING TILL THE NEXT DAY. CANES ARE #1 AND OF COURSE ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WHY I BOUGHT SEASON TICKETS WAS TO MAKE SURE I GET TO SEE SEBASTIAN THE IBIS EVEN THOUGH I DONT GET TO SEE HIM IN PERSON I BELIEVE HE IS THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT ON THE FIELD OTHER THAN THE PLAYERS.

Wayne Ince, Colorado Springs, Co: Myself and 5 other Air Force guys from Miami will be watching in my living room rooting our beloved Canes to victory just like we did last year! I make homemade salsa and hot chicken wings and they provide beverages. I hang a homemade UM sign in the window each game…UM Fan HQ!! Yes, we get crazy but we always keep our military bearing. This year I have invited 2 FSU fans to join us!!

Jason Smith, Bellevue, NE: In Bellevue, Nebraska on my couch. I am a native south floridian, and the only Canes fan in this whole state. I am by far the biggest canes fan ever!!!!

Gary Evashenk L., Burbank, IL : I am having an all out bash to watch the Canes smoke the Seminoles. A few of my close friends are FSU fans, so they will definitely be getting an earful from me while the Canes are beating up on Florida State. We are going to “tailgate” in my backyard and then party on while the Canes take one step closer to another National Title.

Go Canes!!!

Charles Harper G., Spanaway, WA: I will be at my Father n Law’s house with all our snackswatching our Canes put a whoopin on the noles like they did the gators.

GO CANES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gregory Boehman, Mishawaka, IN: The Orange Bowl, section 14 Row 6 Seats 1 & 2

Elissa J. Taub, Cherry Hill, NJ: I will be at home watching the game with family/friends decked out in my Canes t-shirt and hat. I am a huge fan — vocal, dramatic and totally into the game (my husband thinks I’m nuts)! While growing up in South Florida, my dad used to take my brother and me to all the home games. Because I’ve moved around a lot, I haven’t been able to get to a game in person since the Canes-FSU game in 1994, which I flew into town for — but I watch every game on TV (thank goodness for digital cable!). Oh — I should also mention that I’ve taught our dog, Riley, to jump up and down and “high five” everytime the Canes score a touchdown!!

It would be great to get a care package for the game — I spend my days working with Penn State and Notre Dame alums — hey, it’s tough work but someone’s got to do it!

GO CANES!!

Raena A Latina, Indianapolis, IN: Here in the Circle City watching the game with a … UGH! .. Florida State fan! When they lose have to wear a UM cap & drive around with my Hurricane warning flags on their car. ok, admittedly not too creative or festive, but I’ll be here cheering for the Canes nonetheless! 🙂

Julio David Orozco, Des Plaines, Illinois: I personally will be here (near chicago) at my girlfriend’s house watching the majestic orangebowl game, eating chips, drinking lemonade and being merry. I will be wearing all of my Lucky Miami Hurricanes gear: My 1992 Hurricane shirt, 1999 Miami Hurricane basketball shorts, 2002 “5 Championships hat, etc. I will be cheering loudly and proudly for the team I grew up watching as a child, living in Miami the first 14 years of my life. Those were beatiful days in the sun!Of course, I will be booing at the television set each time FSU touches the ball or starts that annoying “tomahawk chop” (that is so lame). It will be so much fun for me to remember all of my childhood memories about the “heated” rivalry. It will be like opening a scrap book into my Cane fannatic past. 🙂 Those were the days. The Days of Jimmy Johnson’s and later Dennis Erickson’s teams that dominated FSU. The years of Michael Irvin, Testaverde, Jerome Brown, Cortez Kennedy, Torreta, Kevin Williams, Lamar Thomas, Horace Copeland, Michael Barrow, Jessie Armstead, Warren Sapp, the list goes on and on. I continue to sing myself the advertising slogan for 1992’s team “here we come agian, ooooh, catch us if you can, etc.And who can forget the 3 wide right games!!!!! Absoultely no Hurrican fan alive with a pulse! Absolutely not this Miami Hurricane fan in Chicago! (self-proclaimed biggest Cane fan in the Midwest)So as the game is ending and the dust settles in the old Orange Bowl Oct. 12th Another adventurous chapter of this epic battle between good and evil will be added into my scrap book. GO CANES!

David L. DeCouto, Acworth, GA: I’ll be at my father’s (Class of ’54) with the whole family, three generations of Hurricane Fans, ages 9 to 72. (It would have been to 88 but my Grandma died last week). We’ll be calling my uncle (Class of ’68) in Ohio at each score yelling,”how ’bout them ‘Canes!”

We’ll be wearing the colors and pull out the T’s from all the natonal championship years. The house will be a sea of Orange & Green. My wife will bake some U of M deserts and the Hurricane flags will be flying.

From the start of College Gameday to the final tick of the clock we will be cheering the ‘Canes to another State Championship on the way to another National Championship.

The ‘Canes have come a long way from the ‘Florida Flop’ and the ‘Fifth Down’ game with Tulane (when Chuck Foreman was playing). As one born and raised in the Orange Bowl I love the tradition and excitement created watching the ‘Canes play.

p.s.- I need Tennessee tickets.

Brian Hauck, miami, flNaples, FLORIDA

Call me if you want more INFO.

Kenny Lock, Madison, Indiana: I will be setting in my living room here in southern Indiana watching the CANES pound FSU one more time. I cannot wait until I can make it to the Orange Bowl to see UM live! Maybe next year. I will be in Morgantown for the UM vs. West Virginia game on 10/26/02!!

rick waldrep, Gaffney, sc; I will be at my tv watching the hurricanes of Miami beat the stuff out of Florida State. Go Hurricanes!!!

David Jaramillo, Dallas, TX, Since this is the same weekend as Texas-Oklahoma, Dallas will be showing nothing but that game all over the city…except at the UM Alumni meeting place, Wizards’ Sports Bar!

Scores of UM faithful will wear their best orange and green and scream louder than those wearing any other color–proudly waving the Canes flags and perhaps even chanting the lyrics to the ever popular “modified” FSU war chant.

Pre-game will start at 9 or 10AM (since we’re an hour ahead) with highlights being shown of previous UM wins on the 15 foot screen. The party will keep going through the rest of the evening.

While everyone else that night in Dallas will be chanting for UT or OU, we’ll know who *really* is NUMBER ONE!

GO CANES!

David JBBA, 1994

Robert “Speedy” Thomas, Silver Spring, MD: At home.

Marvin Gosseye, 70 years young,Steubenville, Ohio: I will be watching and taping the entire game at my home with a group of friends and familly. James M. O’Donnell, Stuart, FL: Orange Bowl, Section SRow 15, Seats 1 to 6andRow 16, Seats 1 & 2Cheering every play -Live from Miami!!It’s Saturday Noon!!

Kara M. Allegretto, Virginia Beach, VA: I will be enjoying the game at my favorite sports bar w/ my boyfriend – who unfortunately is an FSU fan. (one of his only really bad qualities) We will most likely be surrounded by friends (few of whom are ‘Canes fans) and lots of other FSU supporters (there are a lot of them in VA).

I will be the one jumping up and down and yelling in the midst of it all…regardless of what kind of trouble it

Isa Delgado, Alabaster, Al: Since I know I won’t win this…….I’ll be honest…. At my house, with the 10 month old baby (wearing her best hurricane outfit), the two dogs (in their orange tutus), my husband (a university of Alabama graduate, eating his heart out), and I (the token alum) wearing my vintage “the good, the bad and the ugly” t-shit from the 80’s……. Sorta sad… GO CANES!!

Jamaal Harvey,Brooklyn, New York: Serving and defending the United States of America overseas for Operation Enduring Freedom.I am a University Of Miami Alumni, Class of 2000, Mechanical Engineering. Now I am proudly serving my country so that all college football fans in America can enjoy this great pastime.

Edward Rak,Easton,P.A:Having a giant tailgate party at home. Taking the T.V. out on the deck.Gas grill cooking Lobster Tails and New York Srip Steaks, if possible, will grill up some semonoiles too!! No wait…..A sure bet we will grill up some semonoiles………. Florida State!!! Coronas in the cooler for the game, and to wash down the lobster, and Orange champange to celebrate the victory. Added orange food dye to the champange, it looks great!!!Go Canes….next stop……..National Champs!!!!

Ronalf K Vincent,Norwich, CT. Weather Permitting:Tail-gating out on my deck with a big screen tv, the grill will be fired up and the beer will be on ice.

Several of my friends will come over, most Miami fans but a few root for Florida State. I’m sure there will be a little gambling going on (for entertainment purposes only), and I’m looking forward to a SMACK DOWN on the Noles.

Timothy Bodkin, St. Petersburg, FL: Saturday I will be holed up in my new apartment. Just like the past three years I sit here with my roomate (an FSU alumni) and watch the Hurricanes drop the hammer worse and worse each year. The only other person in the apartment is my roomates girlfriends brother in law (a Cane fan). Just like last year I’m sure my roomate will be in the shower at half time ready to go out and drown his sorrows in cheap beer! GO CANES!!!!!!!

judith ann cayley, houston, tx: will be hosting a game watch party in houston,tx for alumni & guests

Tina DellaValle, MIlford, CT: Since it is my best friend Dan McCarthy’s birthday – and he IS the biggest Hurricane fan of all – we will be watching the game down at my family’s bar – “Brian’s Place” – which is a MAJOR Notre Dame hang out – so we will really be giving it to them when we start cheering LOUD

Adam Orgeron, Lafayette, LA: On saturday i will fire up the grill and have friends come over. unfortunately i will be doing so in lafayette, la rather than miami. but nonetheless i will be gettin primed up for Game of the Year Part II. LET’S GEAUX CANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Russell Winthrop, Riverside, RI: I will be in Laughlin, NV on vacation. I’ll be sitting at one of the bars (the one with the biggest screen) I’ll be wearing my ‘Canes jersey and laughing histerically at the utter pounding that the ‘Canes are going to hand out. Then I will go back to the betting window and collect on my winning ticket. GO CANES!!!

garl decamp, tampathe orange bowl 35 yard line, where else? this is the greatest place to watch a game. who needs luxury boxes? real fans want history, to be close to the field. please never tear down the orange bowl. Pro player stadium is the worst. go canes….woop the noles.

JACKIE WILLIAMS, SEBASTIAN FLA: RIGHT BEHIND Fsu BENCH IN SEC D ROW 12 SEAT 20 & 21

cyndy ladner, reston, virginia: I will be sitting in my family room with the surround sound pumping and the beer flowing. A few friends will come over to help me cheer the canes on to another victory!

Gooooo Canes!

Thomas Whitfield, Columbia, SC: Layed back in a jacuzzi suite in Myrtle Beach, SC on my honeymoon watching the game.

Ethan Von Zamft, Coral Gables, FLOn Gameday, I’ll undoubtedly be one of many maddeningly loud students in the student section of the OB. Instead, I decided to tell you where my mother will be on Gameday.

Leesa Von Zamft, Jupiter, FL, will undoubtedly paint her silver station all manners of green orange and white, and all of the windows of the car will have flags protruding from them. Her car will likely be parked outside of the Jupiter Ale House for obvious reasons (instead of outside of Duffy’s, where she watched the Va Tech and BC games of last year), because she’ll be inside, bedecked in Hurricane attire, from paint on her face down to her socks that say “Hurricane Mom” on them. To ensure seating, she’ll arrive hours before the game starts, order numerous drinks and appetizers so that when other family and friends arrive, they can all sustain the inevitable drunken verbal assault by the innumberable FSU fans that will undoubtedly be there as well. How do I know that’s where she’ll be?Well, she did the same thing for the UF game this year, and for every other game that she’s unable to attend personally. Go Canes!

Kathy, de Jong, Clemmons, NC This will be a special Miami/FSU game for our family. Last November 21st, our daughter “Mia” (get it…short for Miami!) was born. This will be her first time watching the Canes and Noles battle it out. She is even ready with her ‘Canes cheerleader outfit for the big day.

We will be having many of our friends and family to our new home to watch the game as we did last year (when I was 8 months pregnant!)

I know it is not extremely exciting, but it doesn’t get much better than passing on the ‘Canes spirit to a new generation!

Kathy de Jong

Jimmy Johns, APO, AP: Actually, your Saturday will be my Sunday morning early. Game time is 12:00 pm therefore it will be 1:00 m in Okinawa, Japan. I am in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Kadena Air Base. We receive our football games via the American Forces Networks (AFN). The problem with AFN is that is it only available on the Air Base through their satellite. I do not live on the base so I have get up and drive to my work to watch the game. I am the only one there watching the game with all my hurricane gear on. I will send you a picture after the game. Go CANES!!

Eric Hughes, Austin, TXI have 1 thing against me on that Saturday – I have to work. So I will provide my own tailgate in my office, complete with snacks and drink (non-alcoholic), tune the lobby T.V. to the game, and whoop and holler at every ‘Canes score. FSU does not have the steam to take Miami, not this year.

On a side note: I know the ‘Canes will be in Tempe and I hope it is against U of Texas. Living here in Austin has it’s perks but I am wanting to shut the mouths of all the Longhorns here in town. Thanks!

We are expecting about 20 to 25 people which will consist of 1 HURRICANE fan (me) 2 gator fans and the rest ole sorry fsu fans so I am the underdog at this party but will be the one dancing and bragging and the end of the game

Kristin Spire, Sw Ranches, FL: I am going to be all the way at the top of the Orange Bowl Stadium watching Miami destroy the Noles!! Even though we are up really high, it still is going to be awesome…tailgating before hand and then cheerin’ with tons of other fans! MIAMI HURRICANES #1!!

Michael, Gonzalez, A., San Antonio, Texas: I will be at my home watching the game and showing off my hurricane colors with flag banners and decor. My girlfriend and i went to Miami for a 4 day weekend to see the canes play B.C. it was great my first trip to Miami tosee a game plus stayed at South Beach inthe Richmond Hotel. It was great did notwant to come back to Texas to go back towork. Thanks for a great time over there.

Patrick S. Ginther, wernersville, pennsylvania: after a week of web browsing every article on the canes, watching sportscenter relentlesly waiting for a canes-noles preview, and studying game tape(past games i have on vhs), i begin my saturday with a hearty breakfast, reading the morning paper and checking out predictions. i usually follow that with watching espn game day with chris, lee, and kirk. lee always picks against the canes, and then they go out and prove him wrong. since its a 12pm start, my pregame starts at about 11:30 am. first, i warmup by running around the house in my canes jersey (this year its number 11). then, i stretch, listening to the canes fight song blasting on my stereo (my neighbors know when there is a game). then, i kneel and pray before my autographed vinny testaverde helmet. my living roomis cleared of all objects, as they might be thrown in fustration. i simply hold my ncaa regulation football during the game. nobody is allowed in my house during a canes game, and the phone and answering machine are turned off.

Jackie Arnold, Hollywood, FL: I will be at a Hurricane Football Party with a group of friends at a Friend’s house. There will be a mix of UofM and FSU fans, and this annual event get wild and crazy..

Looking forward to playing those ‘Noles on OUR turf, the GREAT Orange Bowl.

Paul Ciccarelli, York, ME: Two o years ago my wife and I made the trek from Maine (her first visit to the OB!) and watched Wide Right III! This year we will be hosting a Hurricane party at our house. My basement is an ode to the Canes including Hurricane wallpaper border, a Rob Arra panoramic of the OB, autographed pictures of many former Canes, etc. We will begin the festivities along with ESPN at 10:30 as I concoct my famous Hurricanes which were first introduced in Atlanta at the 1980 Peach Bowl. GO CANES!!!

Bill Henzler, Macungie, Pa Hurricane warning Flags will be flying on Hillcrest Drive on saturday October 12th. Friends will gather and we will cheer the CANES on to victory over the dreaded Seminoles. My VW Beetle “CANEBUG” will be prominently be displayed in the drive way.GO CANES!!!!

Jeremy Jones, Casselberry, FL: Thursday and Friday night: Watch tapes of old Hurricane and Seminole games. I have an archive of games going back to 1987 to present day of Miami playing the Seminoles. Each year a new one gets added to the collection. This is also when I start to bring out all the Hurricane gear.

7:30 a.m.- 8:30 a.m.: My father owns a furniture store that has an alley as one of the entrance’s off the main street. We put out our 2 8×10 foot U flags at both ends so all the patrons of the Seminole/Gator fan store right next to the alley drive under them to get a little taste of real champions.

9:30 a.m.- 10:00 a.m. : At home, I will put up the Hurricane Warning flags on the pole and have both cars displayed with flags and magnets. I also will have my plasic table that is covered with an IBIS and U logo on display for the neighbors, which is generally hung from the roof and surrounded by more flags. In the front yard I will put out my yellow painted PVC goal posts and chalk the yard as if it is a football field, this serves as a place for halftime fun with the neighbors.

10:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. : I start preparing the food for the day’s barbeque which consists of steak, shrimp, ribs and all the other fixings you have at a tailgate. During this time, I begin playing Miami fight songs on the cd player.

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. : Watch gameday to get updates on the day’s upcoming action and picks from Corso and the gameday gang. Before kickoff, I take one drive around the neighborhood to gather any other Hurricane fans that might want to watch the game at my place or come over at halftime to enjoy the food and beverages.

12:00 p.m. : Kickoff and this is where nerves are tense and the windows are wide open with the surround sound announcing the call of the game to all my neighbors.

4:00 p.m : Hopefully we will have won 3 in a row and the day will just be getting started because we will still have 8 more hours of football left and the victory lap around the neighborhood has already taken place.

These are the gameday plans, I will take pictures and email them to the above address.

Thomas Trowell C., Athens, Georgia We will be here in Bulldog Country cheering on the Dawgs to beat Tennessee. Also while watching the game here in Athens we will have a large contingency of Miami and FSU fans on hand to watch them Canes whoop up on the Noles!

Anthony Tedeco, Evans, Georgia: I will have to catch the game in between servicing cars at work on our shops dinky 13inch black and white tvmay be a small tv but the noles will get a big … wooping

Jason Gwaltney, N Las Vegas:I will be watching the game in Chicago Illinois with my future mother-in-law whom I will have met for the first time that day. Not to mention she despises football. I imagine me in the living room screaming at the top of my lungs while the Canes put a beating on the Noles, while my future mother-in-law pulls her hair out in the next room. A truly religious experience.

David Feeley, Pompano Beach, FL: I transform my living room into a small version of the Orange Bowl…..

I have green and orange candles burning….a small replica model of the O.B. (Danbury mint) the game on tv with audio from 560 wqam……even lite a fire estinguisher when the team comes out and also when they score. I have the Miami fight song on cd and also play it when they score.

It’s not just a house on gamedays…..it’s a festival.

Willie James Tellis, Cape Coral, Florida: Bush Gardens(Tampa Florida)I will have my portable television with me. Goooooooooooooooooooooooo Canes

Frank A. Rea, Warrenton, VA: I have been a Hurricanes fan since myparents took me to Miami on vacation when I was 4. I would have attended school at Miami, but I wanted to go to a school where I could play football. I was not big enough for division 1 football.

I am having all of my friends over for a BBQ. We are filling the refrigerator with Hurricane Malt Liquor. When the Hurricanes score the DJ will play “Rocked You Like A Hurricane” by the Scorpions. We will be watching the game on my new digital big screen TV. I will be dressed, as I do for all games, in the same color jersey as the team wears. I am decorating my house with Hurricane memorabelia, such as the 5 National Championship banners, my authentic helmet, jerseys, and other stuff. Since most of my friends are Virginia Tech fans, they will be rooting against the ‘Canes. But, I can’t wait to rub it in when our team pounds the Seminoles.

Raul Jas Jr., Chattanooga TN: On Saturday Oct 12 several freinds and I will at a local campground on a camping trip. I own a camper fully stocked with UM merchandise. I have the UM flag out side, the Ibis tire cover, the UM logo painted on both sides of the camper. I also have UM blankets and pillows. And we cant forget the miami can covers. Four green and orange pom poms i picked up at the Rose Bowl where i sat and watched Miami destroy Nebraska! The pom poms will be located on each corner. Oh, and how can i gorget my lucky 2001 Sugar Bowl t-shirt where i sat and watched UM beat the Gators. I wore that shirt every single game UM played last year and every game so far this year. And i cant decide yet which of my 20 UM hats in the camper i will wear, but you can bet i will wear one of them. My camper is basically one big Miami advertisement. I am from the Miami area originally, but i live in prime Tennessee football country. There are not to may UM fans in this area. I will also be in Knoxvil!le when UM goes and beats UT!

Daniel Lehman, Chesapeake, VA: Although i live in Southern Virginia, i am currently working on a project in Washington, DC. With that said i am loading my SUV with all my gear and having a party at my apartment in Alexandria. As usual the food will made to represent past scores and other Canes images. It is always a blast, especially since half of the attendees are FSU, which will be leaving saddened, of course.

Chris, Johns, Quinton, VA: In front of the TV with my 4 year old caneiac Duncan. Screaming our lungs out and spiking our footballs when the canes score.

Manfred A. Gerhart, Dacula, GA: I will be at the same place I watched the ‘Canes rip the Gators…The Winner’s Circle Sportsbar in Exton,PA. I do alot of business with QVC in West Chester, PA., and I stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Exton(walking distance to the Winner’s Circle). The last time I was up there, I walked over to the Winners Circle, ordered some food and watched football. As kick-off for the ‘Canes/Florida spanking approached, the place began to fill up with FSU, Gator and ‘Canes fans. We had a blast smoking cigars, buying everone Hurricanes and watching our beloved ‘Canes open up that can of … whoopin’ on the Gutters..er…Gators. We all agreed to meet again on the 12th at the Winner’s Circle for more great football!

Jerome F. Davis, Converse, TX.: Even though I live in the state of Texas, I’m proud to say that I’ll be in the Orange Bowl come Oct. 12, 2002. I’ll be right where I was in 2000 during the DRIVE! I wish everyone could be there, but I’ll be loud enough for us all.

GO CANES!!!!!!!!!!

carl ballinger, plant city, Florida: in the front seat of my suv since my wife wont let me watch the game in the house since she’s a fsu alum.

Edward B. Hillegass, Falls Church, VA: “Who Let the Canes out” on this particular day I will be estatic and pumped for this rivalry. I know that the Miami Hurricanes will roll all over the familiar Bobby Bowden Seminoles. I just hope that Miami doesn’t send too many Noles off the field by ambulance.

I plan to have a modest size party with friends and some old Nebraska fans. I think that I will cook ala carte “Rix Ribs” and “Bouldin Burgers”. Everybody should love these food items because they should be devoured in minutes. I will make up banner’s and poster boards for display of the “Mighty Hurricanes” display of power and speed. As Nebraska fans found out in the Rose Bowl “Speed and Power Kills” your teams chance for an upset. The only real game that I see coming down the road for the Canes will be the Hokies. I like having them coming to the Orange Bowl and I hope that I can find a ticket or two to attend this barn burner in Miami. Go Canes and display your sportmanship and power to this great nation.

Chris Anastasi, Dunwoody, GA I, and 17 other guys will be at THE GAME. I am traveling from Atlanta, I used to live in NY, and the rest come from New York. Most of us have been attending this game for 8 years now. We will tail gate, as usual, and maybe get up our own football game, we have enough. We traditionally get up in the morning, get ready for the game and head right for the store to buy anything Miami. This year, I will be purchasing any infant clothing I can, it’s my first and he needs his share of Hurricane merchandise, like Daddy. All the guys are ready and we will be there for our 3rd win in a row. I cannot see this many people attending this game from where we come from. This is the most we’ve ever had going to the game. Our trip seems to grow every year. Who else has 18 NY’ers, all Hurricane fans, going to this game. I will post pictures when they are developed. Thanks, hopefully, I’m a winner. GO CANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sam Riley, Helena, Alabama My wife (an Alabama fan) and myself(Miami fan) will be watching the game glued to the TV. We both are looking forward to seeing Dorsey and the gang run over Bowden’s team.

There are very few Miami fans in Alabama. But I try to keep up with a few around my city. Please let the team know that we may be few, be we are proud of Miami.

mara altschuler, new york city, new york: A dozen cane fans will be gathering in my living room. A living room that is painted Cane Orange just for the big game! All fans in attendance will be wearing their Cane shirts and we will be serving only orange and green food.

Go Canes!

Kyle, Minx, L. Rowlett, TX Every year, me and my buddy (Zach) get together and watch The Game with about 10-15 buddies. As Hurricane fans since the 86 season, we have basically grown up on Hurricane football. Ask us anything and we’ll know it. We joke it is our one true drug. Anyways, he drives up from Austin (he goes to UT, I go to SMU) and we throw on our Miami jerseys(he in the old orange 84, me in the new white #4) We watch the game with our buddies at one of our houses and we whoop and yell or get yelled at(obviously we due the majority of the taunting) We have a special Miami dance and every first down must be celebrated with the dance. No girls are invited for fear we’ll probably embarrass ourselves. However, our best freind Reed is an FSU graduate so we really get going with him. At the end of the game, the loser must go out to the grill and cook the winners their steak of choice from the supermarket. We fill up on our cooked steaks and after everybody has eaten, we get d! own and dirty and have a 7 on 7 football game at our old high school football field. Of course, over the years, me and Zach have accumulated around 8 or 9 Miami jerseys so our team of 7 all wears different Hurricane jerseys. The other team is always relegated to wear FSU t-shirts. I always play qb so I’m usually donning my Gino Toretta jersey while Zach’s always donning his fav of all-time, Randal Hill’s jersey. We play for about an hour, and the winner of our own little FSU-Miami game must go to the local bar and get drinks for free while the losers(more times than not the Noles) generously pay for the beers. At the end of the night, it seems, we are always back on the porch, remembering the great Miami teams of yester-year as well as present Miami moments and players. We’ve even been able to “convert” a few freinds to start rooting for the Canes. This November, for the second time ever, we get to take the road trip south and visit the Orange Bowl for the game agains! t Pittsburgh. Anyways, October 12th is the biggest weekend of the football season for me and my freinds and we really do go all out. This is as close as I ever get to a Super Bowl, even more so than Miami’s bowl games.

Slade Miller, Southside, Alabama: In the stands at the orange bowl cheering for the Canes!

Jason Parker, Tallahassee, FL Section 12 Row 20 watching possibly the best game of the year. Both teams will be ready for the game. Miami has a awesome squad, but i think the ‘Noles will get the job done this year. Good luck to the Canes…you’re gonna need it. ‘GO NOLES!!!
