The University of Miami announces ticket prices for the 2002-03 women’s basketball season.
Ticket prices for the women’s basketball 15-game home schedule are $50, which includes sideline reserved seats for all eight of the Hurricanes games at the new UM Convocation Center. Miami is also offering a $75 family plan. The Family Plan includes endcourt general admission tickets for 2 adults and 3 children to all 15 home games.
Eight of Miami’s 15 home games this season will be played at the new University of Miami Convocation Center, the Hurricanes’ new $48 million on campus arena. Miami’s first game at the new 7,000-seat facility will be January 15th against perennial power Boston College. The Hurricanes will face a total of four NCAA Tournament teams at the Convocation Center highlighted by a visit from the defending national champions, the Connecticut Huskies on February 19th.
Miami head coach Ferne Labati is looking forward to another exciting season of women’s basketball. She welcomes the return of nine players, including four starters from last year’s postseason club.
A strong sense of excitement surrounds the women’s basketball program and Labati anxiously awaits the start of her 15th year as the Hurricane women’s basketball mentor.
Starters returning for the Hurricanes include senior BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year Meghan Saake, juniors Chanivia Broussard, Shaquana Wilkins and Hutashi Wilson. These veteran players will be relied upon for their experience and smart play to lead the team.
Broussard was named to the BIG EAST All-Second Team.
The wealth of talent among the other returning players is immense. The Hurricanes welcome the return of senior Alicia Hartlaub and sophomores Vera Arsova, Melissa Knight, Yalonda McCormick and Fallon Phanord.
Labati also welcomes a cast of highly touted newcomers, including Kathryn Hayek, Katie Higier, Tamara James and Tatjana Marincic. With the balance of veteran players and young talent the Hurricanes are bound for another successful season.
