Cross Country Opens Season At UCF Invitational

Coral Gables, FL (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams open their seasons Friday, September 6 at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
The men’s 8,000-meter race is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. followed by the women’s 5,000-meter race at 6:45 p.m. Joining Miami at the meet will be Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Bethune-Cookman, Rollins, Florida Southern and Tampa.
The Hurricane men will look to senior Dan Boniface (Seattle, WA) and junior Matt Mulvaney (South Hadley, MA) this season. Boniface, the Hurricanes lone senior, recorded two top-10 finishes last season and was among UM’s top-3 finishers at every meet.
Mulvaney was one of the Hurricanes biggest surprises last season posting three top-10 finishes. He was UM’s second-best finisher in five meets, and was Miami’s top finisher (38th overall) at the NCAA South Region Championships.
The UM women will be led by senior Melissa Norris (Pembroke Pines, FL). Norris was Miami’s second-best finisher at every meet in which she competed last season.
