A Note from the Czar:
Saturday’s event was awesome! Roughly 400 men’sbasketball fans toured through the Convocation Center and enjoyed the BBQoutside the Hecht Athletic Center. Even with the anticipation of thisSaturday’s football game, UM Basketball was the talk of the town lastSaturday!

Football? What football ? Hurricane Basketball is where it’s at! We nowhave an exclusive offer for all of those UM Employees who purchased2001-02 men’s basketball season tickets last year! These employees havethe first opportunity to select their specially priced seats in thereserved employee section at the new Convocation Center. We now have aspecific section especially reserved for our University Employees!Because of the small size of the Convocation Center, the number of seatswe have available is extremely limited and selling quickly! Make sure toget your seats ASAP. Let me know if you have any questions.
Convocation Center Event on 8/24/02:
On Saturday, August 24, we held an exclusive preview and tour of theConvocation Center in which we invited our current Convocation Centerdonors and those people who had 2001-02 men’s and/or women’s basketballseason tickets. Our basketball family enjoyed a free BBQ catered by”Special Events Catered by Les” as well as a short program with thebasketball coaches. The highlight of the day for everyone was the tour ofour new facility. Nearly 400 fans strolled through the ConvocationCenter, now almost 80% complete, and were amazed by the facility’sintimacy and the construction’s progress. The overall feeling after theopen house was a very positive one as we begin to usher in this new erafor Hurricane Basketball.
Construction Update:
Turner is in the process of bolting down all the seats between rows12-20 and they are mounting the final rows of seats (21-32) right now.The inside is really taking shape now. Along with the seats, Turneris installing the railings inside the bowl area.
