Miami, CLC, and Edy's Team up to Introduce Hurricane Blitz
Aug. 1, 2002
Miami, FL, & Atlanta, GA – The University of Miami, in conjunction with The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) and Edy’s Grand Ice Cream, has developed a Miami Hurricanes flavor of collegiate ice cream. “Hurricane Blitz” will be available on August 1 at participating Albertson’s, Winn Dixie, and Publix grocery stores throughout Florida during the 2002 college football season.
Hurricane Blitz is a limited edition flavor of Edy’s Grand Ice Cream, and features chocolate and caramel ice cream with caramel-filled footballs. The ice cream packaging uses the University’s orange and green color scheme and prominently displays University of Miami football logos, as well as CLC’s “Officially Licensed Collegiate Products” label.
In addition to Hurricane Blitz, Edy’s Grand Ice Cream is currently licensed by CLC to produce collegiate ice cream for Florida State University and the University of Florida.
The Collegiate Licensing Company, Miami’s exclusive licensing representative, is the oldest and largest licensing representative in the nation. CLC’s members include more than 200 colleges, universities, bowl games, athletic conferences, the Heisman trophy, and the NCAA (including the Men’s and Women’s Final Four, the College World Series, and all NCAA Championships). Based in Atlanta, CLC is a full-service licensing representative, which employs a staff of more than 60 licensing professionals with the capability to establish and manage every aspect of a collegiate licensing program.
