Moser 13th In Decathlon At NCAA Championships

Baton Rouge, LA (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami senior Aaron Moser (Bonne Terre, MO) recorded 3758 points and is in 13th-place after the first day of competition in the decathlon at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Baton Rouge, LA.
Moser, ranked 14th in the nation heading into the NCAA Championships, opened the competition with a personal-best time of 10.59 in the 100-meters. The mark was tops in the event and garnered him 954 points.
In the long jump Moser recorded 702 points with a mark of 6.52 meters (21-04.75). Moser’s jump placed him 14th after two events with 1656 points.
Moser, who earned All-America honors in the decathlon at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Championships, came back strong in the shot put posting his second-best throw of the season with a mark of 13.25 meters (43-05.25), good for 682 points, and moving him up two spots into 12th-place after three events (2338 points).Competition was halted for 59 minutes due to lightning storms in the area.
When competition resumed, Moser returned to post a mark of 1.82 meters (5-11.50) in the high jump gaining an additional 644 points.
In the final event of the day, Moser recorded a season-best time of 50.85 in the 400-meters. The time earned Moser 776 points to give him 3758 points after day one.
Decathlon competition will conclude Saturday with the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500-meters.
