UM's Landy 11th in Decathlon

STORRS, CT (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami sophomore RussellLandy recorded 2,934 points and is in 11th-place after the first day ofdecathlon competition at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championshipsin Storrs, CT.
Connecticut’s Will Thomas, ranked third in the nation in the decathlon,leads the competition with 3,980 points.
Landy started the day with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meters with atime of 11.56. Landy’s time garnered 740 points. He added 559 points with along jump of 5.87 meters (19-03.25) followed by another 453 points with atoss of 9.46 meters (31-00.50) in the shot put.
He concluded day one with a jump of 1.74 meters (5-08.5) in the highjump, good for 577 points, followed by a time of 54.84 in the 400-meterswhich added an additional 605 points to his score.
The decathlon concludes on Saturday with the 110-meter hurdles, discus,pole vault, javelin and 1,500-meters.
