All-American Aaron Moser Fourth In Decathlon

Knoxville, TN (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami All-American Aaron Moser (Bonne Terre, MO) recorded a career-best opening day score of 3,913 points and is in fourth-place after the first day of competition in decathlon at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, TN.
Tennessee’s Stephen Harris, a second-place finisher at last year’s NCAA Track and Field Championships, leads the competition with 4,182 points.
Moser, the school-record holder and three-time BIG EAST Champion in the decathlon, started the day strong by winning the 100-meters with a time of 10.64, garnering him 942 points.
Moser recorded 795 points in the long jump finishing fourth with jump of 6.92 meters (22-08.50) and then added another 683 points by finishing third in the shot put with a toss of 13.26 meters (43-06.00).
The All-American posted a mark of 1.94 meters (6-04.25) in the high jump despite a sore left ankle to record another 749 points. He then closed out the first day with a time of 51.56 in the 400-meters, which was good for 744 points.
The decathlon concludes Thursday with the 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin and 1,500-meter run. Moser needs 3,446 points on Thursday to break his own school-record, and 3,587 points to automatically qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, May 29-June 5, in Baton Rouge, LA.
