Women's Basketball Advances To The Second Round Of The WNIT

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The Miami women’s basketball team will travel to face Houston in the second round of the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) Saturday at 7 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion in Houston, Texas.
Miami enters the contest 19-11 overall after beating Georgia Tech, 73-64, in the opening round of the WNIT Wednesday night in Atlanta, Ga.
Houston is 23-7 overall after defeating cross-town rival Rice, 67-65, in the opening round in Houston Wednesday night.
The Lady Cougars lead the all-time series 3-1. UH won the last meeting with Miami, 80-72, during the 1995-96 season.
The winner of the game will advance to face the winner of the Valparaiso/Ball State game March 19-21.
The Hurricanes are led in scoring by sophomore forward Chanivia Broussard (Miami, Fla.) she averages 14.3 points per game.
The Lady Cougars are led in scoring by sophomore guard Chandi Jones who averages 22.5 points per game.
