Miami went 17-7 last year as an independent in its first season of volleyballsince 1981. The Hurricanes join BIG EAST Conference play this season.
“We’re excited about having Rutgers, UConn and Notre Dame coming to campus thisfall,” said Lantagne. “They’re three of of the top teams in the BIGEAST and have all been to the conference tournament the past two seasons.”
In addition to playing 13 BIG EAST opponents, Miami plays seven matches againstteams from the state of Florida.
“We’re keeping our in-state rivalries going by playing home and aways with bothFAU and FIU,” said Lantagne. “FAU was the runner-up in their conferenceand FIU won the Sun Belt Championship. Those should all be competitive matcheslike they were last season.”
“We also play South Florida, Florida State and Stetson. South Florida was ConferenceUSA champion and we get them on our home court. Florida State just hired a newcoach so they’ll have a new look. They’re always a big game for the Hurricanes.”
