A Hurricane Salute To Women In Sports

On Friday, January 18th, the University of Miami Athletic Departmentconducted ‘A Hurricane Salute to Women in Sports’ clinic. Over 350 areaelementary and middle school students participated in a sports clinichighlighting the advantages of girls participating in sports.

‘TheHurricane Salute to Women in Sports’ presented by First Union, includedspeeches from the Miami Sol’s Ruth Riley and the Hurricane’s WomenBasketball Coach, Ferne Labati.

The students were divided into differentgroups, introducing them to different activities ranging from tennis tocheerleading to rowing to basketball. The event concluded with lunchprovided by The Big Cheese and Gatorade.
