CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – –

Q: From George R. Fleming, Panama City Beach, Fl No question, but a big THANK YOU for all you do on behalf of Miami sports! I’m still smiling over the baseball championship and now we’re No. 1 in football. Thank you for your effort and let’s Go Canes!!!!!!

A: You’re sure welcome. Write again.

Q: From Richard W. Long, Harrisburg, Pa. After the 1987 Fiesta Bowl the Athletic Dept. created guidelines for travel dress. Are those guidelines still in effect? If so, do “sweats” comply? I think the athletic teams should wear khakis and perhaps some sort of open collar shirt at a minimum for travel. Sweats just aren’t appropriate. What do you think? Thank you.

A: Thanks for your question and interest in Hurricane Athletics. We would like to provide a travel outfit for our players. However, NCAA rules only allow us to provide clothing which may be used for practice or participation. Consequently, sweat suits are provided to our players for multiple use including travel.

Q: From William S. Brophy, Lakeland, Fl Due to the problems with the BCS ratings, is the Big East going after any other big football schools (like Notre Dame or even to see if Penn St. would switch over to the Big East)?

A:While the Big East is open to expansion, the league is presently not seeking to expand.

Q: From Nicolas Sosa, Pineville, NC Will you consider moving to the ACC at the end of the year, if Miami goes undefeated, and does not make it to the Rose Bowl because of the strength of schedule?

A: The University and the ACC spoke informally several years ago. There are presently no ongoing conversations on this topic. We’re in the Big East.
