Coral Gables, Fla. – (www.hurricanesports.com) – The Miami volleyball teamstretched its home record to 8-1 with its fourth-straight win of the season. TheHurricanes rallied to defeat North Texas in five games, 3-2, on Sunday.
Junior outside hitter Marcela Gamarra (Medellin, Colombia) had a season-high 54attacks against the Mean Green (25-4-54) and compiled a .389 attack percentage.
Freshman setter Jamie Grass (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) also had a season-high 63assists in the victory over UNT. The total eclipsed her previous high of 59 assistsin the Hurricanes’ first match of the season at Davidson.
Freshman outside hitter Elizabeth Tyson (Jacksonville, Fla.), starting her secondmatch for Miami, had four serving aces against North Texas. The total tied Tysonwith senior Kristi Sprinkel (four aces at Florida Memorial) for the most acesin a match.
As a team, Miami had a season-high 78 kills and 74 assists in the win.
The Hurricanes travel to Ft. Lauderdale to play at Nova Southeastern on Wednesdayevening, October 24th, at 7 p.m.
UM returns home to Coral Gables for two matches this weekend. UM plays BIG EASTfoe Pittsburgh on Saturday, October 27th at 7 p.m. and Georgia State on Sunday,October 28th at 2 p.m.
