Men's 4x100-Meter Relay Wins BIG EAST Title

PISCATAWAY,NJ –The University of Miami 4×100-meter relay won itsthird conference championship in the last four seasons to highlight the finalday of competition at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships inPiscataway, NJ.
Miami’s team of junior Gus Martin (Miami Northwestern), seniorShane Brown (St.Andrews, Jamaica), senior Daryl Jones (Dallas, TX) and seniorJoseph Mbayen (Paris, France) dominated the field with a BIG EAST record timeof 40.40.
Connecticut finished second (40.86) while St. John’s took third(41.85).
Not surprisingly, the Hurricanes also performed well in the100-meter final with Jones taking second (10.58), Mbayen finishing fourth(10.72) and Brown finishing fifth (10.74).
In other finals, Martin finished third in the 110-hurdles (14.17)and fourth in the 200-meters (22.08) while junior Jabari Ennis (Kingston,Jamaica) finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.90 meters(16-00.75).
Sophomore Gerard Wise took 18th in the javelin with a throw of52.66 meters (172-09.00).
In the team competition the Hurricanes finished eighth with 56points. Georgetown recorded (155 points) to win its 11th BIG EAST Outdoortitle in the last 14 seasons.
