Boniface Sets School-Record in 3000-Meter Steeplechase

Raleigh, NC – University of Miami sophomore Dan Boniface (Seattle, WA) finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a school-record time of 9:08.62 at the 2001 Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, NC.

Boniface bettered his own school-record of 9:10.49 set March 17 at the Hurricane Invitational.

The Hurricanes had two runners finish in the top-10 of the 42-person race. Junior Jeff Gaulrapp (Baldwinsville, NY) took seventh with a time of 9:15.62.

Miami also had several runners competing at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, FL including senior Joseph Mbayen (Paris, France) who finished sixth in the 100-meters (10.91) and junior Gus Martin (Miami Northwestern) who placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.18).

The Hurricanes return to action on April 7 at the South Florida Invitational in Tampa, FL.
