Emry Third After First Day Of Decathlon

Gainesville, FL – University of Miami senior Guy Emry (Monument, CO) posted a first day total of 3,563 points and is in third-place after five events of the decathlon at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, FL.
Mike Nolan (Windsor Legion Track Club) leads the decathlon with a first-day total of 3,965 points. JT Kuretich (Wake Forest) is second with 3,810 points.
Emry, who stood in fifth-place after the first two events, started to turn things around with a throw of 12.48 meters (40-11.50) in the shot put. The throw moved him into fourth-place overall. He continued his rise in the standings, moving into third-place overall, with a second-place finish in the high jump posting a height of 1.91 meters (6-03.25). Emry ended the day with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meters (50.76).
Emry opened the competition with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meters (11.40) and a fifth-place finish in the long jump (6.29 meters).
Competition concludes Thursday with the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500-meters.
