Category 5 is looking forward to the upcoming Sugar Bowl game in New Orleans when we will finally take on the Florida Gators for a shot at the National Championship.
Since the creation of this student spirit group, Category 5 has concentrated on bridging the gap between students and student-athletes through pep rallies and other events. The response from the students, as well as University faculty and administration, has been tremendous.
That is why Category 5, with the help of the Athletic Department and Student Affairs, has planned this road trip. It is an opportunity for all dedicated student fans to show their support one last time during this championship season. And if you think that the 16-hour bus ride will tire out this group of rowdy fans, think again. We plan on hitting New Orleans with the force of a Hurricane, blowing Gator fans out of the Superdome and back to Gainesville.
Students will leave the University on Saturday, December 30th at 6 pm and arrive in New Orleans Sunday, December 31st. We will stay in the New Orleans Marriot Courtyard on the nights of the 31st and 1st. The bus leaves for Miami approximately 1 hour after the conclusion of the game.
These road warriors are looking forward to spending New Year’s 2001 in the French Quarter with a New Year’s goal of a 5th National Championship being brought home to Coral Gables.
Go Canes!
