Coral Gables, Fla – The women’s team (495 points) took third behind Indiana University (1,151 points) and Notre Dame University (763 points). The men’s team (661) also took third finishing behind Indiana University (1,037 points) and The University of Cincinnati (1,002 points).

Elaine Schwartz (Mt. Laurel, NJ) finished second in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.47) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:25.34). In addition Courtney Caples (Tuscaloosa, AL) won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.18) and finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.34) to lead the Hurricane women.

In the men’s field Dan Asencio (Newark, NJ) finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (51.33) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (51.05). John Stevens (Portland, ME) took second in the 400-yard individual medley (4:03.76).

The University of Miami men’s and women’s swimming and diving team returns to action on Sunday, December 17 in a dual meet starting at 11:00 a.m. against the College of Charlestown at the Norman Whitten Student Union Pool. Admission is Free.
