Nov. 9, 2000

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the NCAA South Regional this Saturday, November 11 in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Senior Shannon Sarabyn (Centreville, VA) and junior Jeff Gaulrapp (Baldwinsville, NY) have both posted record campaigns in leading the Hurricanes this season.

Sarabyn, the Hurricanes’ top finisher in every meet this season, established a school record with five consecutive victories to open the season. She went on to earn All-State honors for the second time of her career with a fourth-place finish at the Florida Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships.

Gaulrapp has been very impressive this season recording four individual victories including three straight victories to open the season. The three consecutive wins established a UM record.

Gaulrapp also earned All-State honors with a third-place finish at the Florida Intercollegiate Championships and at the BIG EAST Championships he became the first runner in UM history to run under 25 minutes (24:37) for 8,000-meters.
