Varsity Women Place In Top 20 At Princeton Chase

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami placed its varsity women’s eight “A” boat 20th out of 37 entries in the women’s open eight race at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie. Miami’s “B” boat finished in 27th.

In the race, the UM “A” entry finished the course with a time of 16:18.0, while the “B” entry finished in 16:40.0. Princeton won the event with a time of 14:46.0, ahead of second-place Yale (14:48.0).

Jenny Krawec, Sheila Cornelius, Cathy Dunnet, Monika Manios, Amanda Turner, Dorien ten Have, Bridgett Gallagher, Jacqui Julien and coxswain Jenny Lee rowed the “A” boat. UM’s “B” entry was rowed by Jordanna Heywood, Marijka VanderPol, Kate Weeden, Trish Blackwell, Yianna Reizakis, Ananda Chou, Stephanie Tilley, Ruza Rebac and coxwain Cina Quezada, finished with a time of 16:01.03.

Following the Princeton Chase, the varsity women will travel to Gainesville, GA to row in the Head of the Chattahoochee Regatta on Saturday, November 4.
