WOMEN'S SWIMMING TAKES ON NOTRE DAME

Coral Gables, Fla – The University of Miami women’s swimming and diving team travels to Notre Dame to face the Irish in a dual meet on Friday, October 26 at 3:00 p.m. at the Rolf Aquatic Center in South Bend, IN.

The Hurricanes look to maintain their level of intensity after last weekend’s “A” Invitational. The University of Miami finished second (511 points), in combined team points, out of 28 teams, behind the Miami Metro Aquatic Club (626 points).

Sophomore Elaine Schwartz (Mt. Laurel, NJ) led the Hurricane Women, with a first place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.35), a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.81) and top ten finishes in both the 100-yard backstroke (5th, 1:01.97) and the 200-yard freestyle (7th, 30.33).

Senior Jennifer Weir (Cooper City, FL) and freshman Courtney Caples (Tuscaloosa, AL) swam well for the Hurricanes in their last dual meet on October 14 against Florida Atlantic University. Weir finished first in both the 100-yard freestyle (53.80), and the 200-yard individual medley (2:10.80) and second in the 100-yard backstroke (59.90). Caples finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.01) and second in the both 50-yard freestyle (24.99) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.03).
