Treasure Coast Hurricane Club Golf Classic A Huge Success
July 20, 2000
The Treasure Coast Hurricane Club Golf Classic was held at the Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound on Saturday, July 15th. The tournament was a huge success with over 100 golfers participating in the two-man scramble. Over $12,000 was raised benefiting the University of Miami Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund.
Several members of the University of Miami football team participated in the tournament including Najeh Davenport, James Jackson, Joaquin Gonzalez, and Andre King. Sebastian the Ibis kept the golfers entertained throughout the day with his usual antics. Members of the UM Athletics Staff in attendance were Head Tennis Coach Jay Berger, Chief Financial Officer Wayne Roberts, Associate Athletic Director Patrick Nero, Director of Development Blake James and Associate Director of Development Kinch Cato.
After the round, players participated in a unique putting contest followed by a silent auction, raffle and luncheon. Carolyn Sanborn and her staff at the Lost Lake Golf Club did a wonderful job in making this day a success. A special thanks to Carolyn and her fellow Treasure Coast Hurricane Club board members: Tom Hickey, Craig Stranigan, Don Wright, Bill Murphy, Ed and Karen Leamon, and Tim Warren.
Thanks to all of our tournament corporate sponsors, hole sponsors, golfers and everyone who participated in this wonderful event for our Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund.
