Coral Gables, FL – Athletic Director Paul Dee and head men’s track coach Mike Ward announce the hiring of Eric Campbell (Miramar, FL) to the position of assistant track coach at the University of Miami. Campbell will coach hurdles and jumps.
“We are very excited to have Eric Campbell join our staff,” said Ward. “He is an outstanding jumper who has had a tremendous amount of success both individually and as a coach. We expect him to really help us improve in the jumping events.”
Campbell, 25, was a two-year letterman at the University of Miami (1993 and 1994) and won the 1994 BIG EAST triple jump title. Campbell still holds the University of Miami triple jump record (51-05.75) and is member of the school record holding distance medley relay (10:09.24).

That season Campbell guided Eric Boykin to the NAIA National Championship in the triple jump and Jimmy Devine to the NAIA National Title in the long jump.
Prior to transferring to California Baptist, Campbell coached sprints and jumps for one season (1995) at Miami Northwestern High School. While at Northwestern, Campbell coached athletes that went on to win four state titles and seven all-state honors including Shannell McMiller, the 1997 High School National Champion in the triple jump.
