Hurricanes Open Season At Auburn Tiger-Derby Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami Women’s Golf team is in ninthplace after the first round of the Auburn Tiger-Derby Invitational at theSaugahatchee Country Club in Auburn, AL. Miami shot a team score of 314 inMonday’s first round leaving them tied with Tulane University and 18 strokesbehind tournament leader Georgia (296).

Lavana Davis (Seminole, FL) led Miami with an opening round score of74 (36-38) to finish the day in a three way tie for seventh place.Dominique Gagnon is tied for 30th (39-39–78) and Ashleigh Barrett-Hamilton(Karoi, Zimbabwe) is tied for 42nd (41-39–80). Lorna Nelson (Radlett,England) is tied for 52nd (41-41–82) and Michele Miller (Dover, MA)finished the day in 69th place (46-46–92).

Tennessee’s Tina Schneeberger leads the field with a two under par70 after one round.

The tournament’s final round is to be played on Tuesday, September21st.
