McCray Advances at NCAA Track Championship

BOISE, Idaho ? Five-time All-America Yolanda McCray (Miami Southridge)took first in her heat with a stadium record time of 12.87 to advanceto thesemifinals of the 100-hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Track and FieldChampionships in Boise, ID.

McCray, who owns the second fastest time in the world this year,broke the Bronco Stadium record of 12.97 set by former Hurricane greatGillian Russell when she won the national championship in1994.McCray, a senior, has twice earned All-America honors in the100-hurdles having reached the NCAA finals in the event in 1996 and1997.

McCray finished seventh in 1996 and fifth in 1997.

McCray, who sat out last season while concentrating on her nursingstudies, is attempting continue the Hurricanes impressive streak ofAll-Americans. Miami has had at least one All-American at every NCAAOutdoorChampionship meet since 1992. Overall, the Hurricanes have had 17 NCAAoutdoor All-Americans over the last seven seasons.

McCray will continue her quest for the national championshipwith thesemifinals on Friday at 7:50 p.m. central time.
