Andrew Moran - Men's Basketball - University of Miami Athletics

Andrew Moran joined the Miami men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach/director of player development in April 2025.

In his first season at Miami, Moran helped the Hurricanes to one of the most remarkable turnarounds in college basketball as he helped Miami to a 26-9 record, a No. 3 seed in the ACC Tournament following a 13-5 mark in league play and a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament. He helped a pair of Hurricanes, Malik Reneau and Tre Donaldson, to a pair of All-ACC accolades as Reneau finished the season as one of the ACC’s premier post players.

Moran, who was named the 2025 Naismith National High School boys basketball coach of the year, came to The U after serving as the head coach at Miami’s Christopher Columbus High School for the past six years.

Since 2019, Moran has led the Explorers to four consecutive Florida Class 7A state championships, culminating in the 2025 state title, and a 145-34 overall record.

In April 2025, Morgan coached Columbus to its first-ever national championship as the Explorers defeated Dynamic Prep 67-49 in the 2025 Chipotle High School Basketball Nationals. Columbus concluded the season ranked the No. 1 boys basketball team in the nation per ESPN and MaxPreps.

Over the past two season, Moran coached a trio of top-25 recruits per ESPN in Cameron Boozer (No. 3), Cayden Boozer (No. 16) and Jase Richardson (No. 25).

Prior to this time at Columbus, Moran coached at both Miami Christian High School and Miami Senior High. Moran led Miami Christian to the state championship in 2015. As a head coach Moran has accumulated a 170-38 overall record.

Moran founded the Miami Hoop School, a basketball skills training program in 2012 and was the first I’m Possible trainer to be introduced to the State of Florida. He has trained athletes of all levels from high school to NBA players, including Tim Hardaway Jr, Tyler Herro and James Johnson, among others.

Because he is fluent in Spanish, Moran has been granted many opportunities to train in places like Argentina, Spain, Panama, Chile and Puerto Rico to name a few.

Moran earned a bachelor‘s degree from Florida State in 2008.

A native of Houston, Texas, Moran moved to Miami during his sophomore year of high school where he would play varsity basketball for Coral Gables High School.
