Hurricanes Announce 2005-06 Men's Basketball Schedule

Aug. 23, 2005

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s basketball team will play 14 games against teams that reached postseason last season, highlighted by visits from 2005 NCAA Champion North Carolina, and intrastate rivals Florida and Florida State.

Miami opens its 2005-06 season at the BCA Classic hosted by the University of Washington, November 13-15, in Seattle, Wash. Miami will face Texas-Arlington in the opening round. Host Washington won the Pac-10 tournament title last season and was a No. 1 seed in the 2005 NCAA tournament. Others competing in the eight team tournament include Air Force, Morgan State, UNC Greensboro, Northern Arizona and Wisconsin-Green Bay.

“This season’s schedule will be a tough test as we continue to build this basketball program,” said head coach Frank Haith. “Our non-conference games against Temple and Michigan on the road, Louisville in the Orange Bowl Classic, and Florida here at home should help prepare us for the always difficult ACC schedule, which got even tougher this season with the addition of Boston College.”

Miami opens its 2005-06 home schedule against Morgan State on November 19. Miami’s difficult non-conference schedule includes trips to Temple (Nov. 27) and Michigan (Nov. 29), a battle against Florida at the Convocation Center (Dec. 22), and match-up with Final Four participant Louisville in the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic, December 31, at the National Car Rental Center in Sunrise, Fla.

Miami opens ACC play at North Carolina State on December 18. The Hurricane’s ACC home opener will be against Maryland on January 7 at the Convocation Center.

Miami’s ACC home schedule is highlighted by a visit from the defending NCAA champion North Carolina Tar Heels on February 12. Other ACC teams making the trip to Coral Gables this season include Clemson (Jan. 18), Boston College (Jan. 21), Wake Forest (Jan. 31), North Carolina State (Feb. 8), Virginia Tech (Feb. 22) and Florida State (Mar. 5).

The Hurricane’s ACC road schedule includes games at North Carolina (Jan. 14), Virginia (Jan. 24), Florida State (Jan. 29), Georgia Tech (Feb. 4), Boston College (Feb. 16), Duke (Feb. 19) and Maryland (Mar. 1).

Season ticket packages for the 2005-06 men’s basketball season start at just $199 and include tickets to all 15 regular season home games as well as Miami’s exhibition contest against Nova Southeastern on November 5th (less than $12.50 per game). Family plans, which include admission for two adults and two children, are also available for as little as $475 (less than $7.50 per ticket).
