ON STETSON:

Stetson enters the game with a record of 0-9 following a 75-57 loss at Florida State on December 20. The Hatters have had a difficult early season schedule which has included games at NC State, at Georgetown and at Florida State. They have played only one home game this season, a 77-52 loss to South Florida.

The Hatters are led by senior guard Anthony Register who is averaging a team-high 13.7 points per game. Also averaging in double-figures for Stetson are senior forward E.J. Gordon (12.9 ppg) and junior guard Will Holloman (11.4 ppg).

Stetson, which has lost 14 straight games dating back to last season, has the second-longest losing streak in Division I behind Northern Colorado which has lost 15 straight.

THE SERIES:

Miami’s game versus Stetson will mark 76th meeting between the two schools with the Hurricanes holding a 42-33 series advantage. Miami and Stetson meet for the third consecutive season at the BankUnited Center. Last season the Hurricanes defeated the Hatters, 81-50. Prior to this three game stretch, Miami and Stetson had not met since the 1971 season. Miami has faced the Hatters 75 times, more than any other opponent, in a series that dates back to 1928.

THINGS TO KEEP AN EYE ON:

Robert Hite needs 34 points to move into 11th place on UM’s career scoring list. Hite enters the game in 12th place with 1,323 points. James Jones (1999-03) is currently 11th with 1,356 points.Robert Hite needs five three-point field goals to move into third on UM’s all-time list. Hite enters the game with 166 three-point field goals. Kevin Presto (1985-89) is currently third with 170 three-point field goals.Guillermo Diaz needs three three-point field goals to move into eighth on UM’s all-time list. Diaz enters the game with 122 career three-point field goals. James Jones (1999-03) is currently eighth with 124 career three-point field goals.

The Miami vs. Stetson game will televised live on FSN Florida Frank Forte (play-by-play) and Bob Wenzel (analysis) will call all the action.

The game can be heard on the Hurricane Radio Network, WQAM (560 AM). Joe Zagacki “The Voice of the Hurricanes” will call the action with Josh Darrow adding analysis. Brian London will serve as studio host.

ON THE COACHES:

Miami head coach Frank Haith is in his second season with the Hurricanes. His record career record is 22-18 (.550), including a 6-5 mark this season.

Stetson head coach Derek Waugh is in his sixth season as a collegiate head coach, all with the Hatters. His career record in 51-85 (.375).

HURRICANES VS FLORIDA SCHOOLS:

Miami is 302-146 (.674) against teams from the state of Florida. Miami has won 37 of its last 42 games against Florida schools dating back to the 1992-93 season. Miami has won seven of the last eight games against in-state opponents over the last two seasons.

MIAMI vs. NON-CONFERENCE OPPONENTS:

Since UM began conference play in 1991-92, the Hurricanes have compiled an 106-51 (.675) record against non-conference opponents, including a 75-17 (.815) mark at home. The Hurricanes are 21-3 (.875) against non-conference opponents at the BankUnited Center. Miami is 6-5 against non-conference opponents this season.
