Central Florida Holds On to Ryder Lead

MIAMI LAKES, FL – Central Florida (298-310-608) shot a second round total of 310 to take a commanding 16-stroke lead over second place South Florida (306-318-624) at the RYDER/Florida Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship, at Don Shula’s Golf Club in Miami Lakes, FL.
Central Florida, which shot a tournament low 298 in the opening round, is attempting to win its first RYDER Championship. Florida (313-312-625), which has won 13 RYDER Championships, remains in third-place while last years champion, Florida State (318-314-632) is all alone in fourth place.
UCF’s Monica Gundersrud continues to lead the individual competition, after firing a second round 77, for a two-day total of 148. Gundersrud’s teammate and last year’s individual champion Line Berg (74-75-149) is second, while Florida’s Paula Marti (79-71-150) and Rollins’ Jennifer Beames (77-73-150) are two strokes behind in third.
Miami, which is hosting the event for the 16th consecutive year, is in seventh place after posting a two round total of 646 (139-327). Senior Lorna Nelson (80-73-153) shot a second round 73 to move into a tie for seventh.
Final round action starts Sunday, April 2 at 7:30 a.m.
