The Game
Miami (9-4) opens ACC play facing No. 21/23 Virginia (13-1) on Jan. 7 prior to a matchup at No. 3/4 North Carolina on Jan. 10.
In the 2011 ACC tournament, Miami defeated Virginia, 69-62, in overtime, then held a 19-point lead in the second half against North Carolina, but the Canes lost the second-round game, 61-59.

The Series
Miami is 9-4 against Virginia, winning six of the last seven outings. The Canes defeated the Cavaliers twice last season, both in overtime.

The Coach
Head coach Jim Larranaga is in his 28th season as a head coach and first at Miami. He has posted a 479-338 overall record and holds a 452-312 record in D-I games. Coach L was also the head coach of D-II American International for two years.
