UM Women's Golf Team named Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week

The University of Miami women’s golf team has been selected Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 28. The Hurricanes shot a season-best 289 in their final round to claim its second straight Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic title at Oak Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C. Miami won last year’s 43-team Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic with a score of 904. The Hurricanes saved their best for last recording the best round by a team in the 33-team tournament when they shot 289, which also ties for third all-time as a low round by a team in UM history. Miami placed all five golfers in the top 50 out of 172 golfers, and three Hurricanes finished in the Top 25 led by freshman Shelby Gilbert who finished tied for ninth. Sophomore Begona Sarabia tied for 13th, while sophomore Jennifer Hirano tied for 25th. Junior Christina Hirano tied for 41st and junior Maria Ronderos tied for 47th place. |
