University of Miami Volleyball Hosts Spring Tournament

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball team will host a four-team spring tournament on Saturday, April 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m., inside the James L. Knight Sports Complex on the UM campus.

In the third of four spring events this year for the Hurricanes, 10th-year head coach Nicole Lantagne Welch and the UMiami volleyball program welcome teams from St. Thomas (Fla.), Miami Dade and FIU.

The tournament consists of three rounds, with two matches taking place at a time in each round.

The matches will be a 2-of-3 set format with points going to 25. If matches conclude early, then the next scheduled round of matches will begin early.

The schedule of events is below:

Round 1 – 9:30 a.m.
Court 1: Miami vs. St. Thomas
Court 2: FIU vs. Miami Dade

Round 2 – 10:45 a.m.
Court 1: Miami vs. Miami Dade
Court 2: FIU vs. St. Thomas

Round 3 – Noon
Court 1: Miami vs. FIU
Court 2: Miami Dade vs. St. Thomas

The Spring Tournament is part of a huge day in Miami athletics. The football program will hold an open scrimmage at Traz Powell Stadium at 10 a.m., while the UM baseball team will honor its 2001 National Championship team at 7 p.m. at Alex Rodriguez Park.
