THE MATCHUP:

Duke enters the game with a record of 24-1, 12-0 in the ACC, following a 93-70 home win against Wake Forest on Tuesday. The Blue Demons are ranked No. 2 in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll. With a win on Sunday, the Blue Devils will likely move into the top spot of both polls on Monday.

Duke boasts the nation’s best inside-outside combination. Senior guard J.J. Redick leads the nation in scoring (28.9 ppg) and is the odds-on favorite to repeat at ACC Player of the Year. Against Wake Forest he made four three-point field goals to become the NCAA career three-point field goal leader. The Blue Devils are led in the paint by senior center Sheldon Williams who is averaging 18.4 points per game to go with 9.8 rebounds and 3.96 blocks. Williams leads the ACC in both rebounds and blocks.

Miami (14-11, 6-6 ACC) has lost three consecutive games, and is playing the last of four consecutive games against ranked teams. Miami is led by its three guard line-up of senior Robert Hite, junior Guillermo Diaz and junior Anthony Harris. Hite leads the team in scoring at 16.9 points per game. Diaz (16.6 ppg) ranks second scoring while Harris (11.1 ppg) is third.

One of the three guards has led the team in scoring in 24 of the Hurricanes’ 25 games this season. Harris missed the first seven games of the season with a fractured bone in his right foot. Since his return against Birmingham-Southern on Dec. 3 the trio has averaged 46.0 points per game, or 67.2 percent (828 of 1232) of the team’s scoring. In ACC play this season the trio is averaging 48.4. ppg, or 69.1 percent of the teams scoring.

Over the last six games, Hite is averaging 20.2 points and is shooting 40-87 (.460) from the field including 24-53 (.453) from three-point range. Diaz is averaging 18.2 points and has a 2.38 assist-to-turnover ratio (19 ast/8 TO) during the stretch.

Miami head coach Frank Haith is in his second season with the Hurricanes. His record career record is 30-24 (.556), including a 14-11 mark this season.

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski is in his 26th season with the Blue Devils and 31st season overall. His record at Duke is 672-188 (.884) while his overall record is 745-247 (.751).

Miami and Duke meet for the eighth time with the Blue Devils leading the all-time series 6-1. The Hurricanes’ came on December 21, 1962. Miami is 0-3 all-time against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Over the last two seasons Miami guard Guillermo Diaz has played some of his best games against ranked teams. Miami has faced 18 ranked teams over the last two seasons and in those games he has averaged 20.1 points per game. He has shot 126-285 (.442) from the field against ranked teams including 47-116 (.405) from three-point range. Diaz has scored 20-or-more points in 11 of the 18 games versus ranked opponents.
