Men's Hoops Gets Two Commitments

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Head men’s basketball coach Frank Haith announces the signing of 6-0 guard Edwin Rios (Miami Senior) and 6-9 forward Julian Gamble (Durham, N.C.) to national letters of intent to attend the University of Miami next fall.

Rios, ranked among the top-15 point guards in the nation by Rivals.com, returns to Miami Senior High this season after spending a year at Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna. As a sophomore at Miami Senior High two seasons ago, Rios averaged 24.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game earning first-team All-State honors.

Rios, who is ranked among the top-100 recruits in the nation by several publications, led Miami Senior to the 2005 Class 6A State title earning tournament MVP honors.

Gamble, who is rated the No. 4 player in North Carolina, led Southern Durham High School to a 19-10 record last season averaging 17.0 points per game. Gamble is the not the first Southern Durham player to sign with Miami. Senior center Anthony King is a 2003 graduate of the school.
