Hurricanes to Hold Toys for Tots Drive this Saturday

Coral Gables, Fla. (www. hurricanesports.com) – – The University of Miami men’s basketball team has teamed up with the United States Marine Corp to participate in the 2005 holiday Toys for Tots program. Marines will be on hand prior to this Saturday’s (December 3rd) game versus Birmingham Southern collecting toys for underprivileged children.

All fans are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy with them to the game. For those fans that are still looking to purchase tickets, they can take advantage of a special buy one get one free men’s basketball ticket, provided that an unwrapped toy is donated at the time of purchase. Tickets can be purchased at the Hecht Athletic Center Box Office or on the event day at the BankUnited Center Box Office.

Prior to tip-off, Marine Lloyd Reshard Jr. will be on hand to sing the National Anthem. A student at the University of Miami, Reshard’s studies was interrupted when he was called to serve overseas. Recently returned, Reshard will resume his studies in January and expects to graduate this May.

For those unable to attend this weekend’s game, the Hurricanes and the United States Marine Corp will be conducting a second Toys for Tots collection prior to the December 10th game against Wofford.
