Hurricane Volleyball Conducts First Scrimmage

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s volleyball suited up and competed in an inter-squad scrimmage Wednesday afternoon at the Knight Center. Despite a slow start, Head Coach Nicole Lantagne Welch was pleased with the energy level that quickly picked up as each game went on.

“The scrimmage was a great way to get into their uniforms with a true game of 6-on-6,” Lantagne Welch stated. It also allowed her to witness what aspects the team seemed to improve on. According to her, it was defense that improved with each game. Overall, Coach Lantagne Welch expressed, “It was a high level game, and fun to watch.”

The team will match-up for a second scrimmage Monday at 1 pm at the Knight Center. UM begins its season August 25 versus Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. at 7 pm.
