UM Volleyball Braces For Conference Clashes With St. John's, UConn

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – – The Miami Hurricanes volleyball team, 19-3 overall, will look to improve its 5-2 conference record this weekend when it hosts St. John’s Friday night at 7 p.m. and the University of Connecticut Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Knight Sports Complex on the Coral Gables Campus.

The Hurricanes are tied for third with UConn in the BIG EAST Conference with a 5-2 record. UM has the best overall record among BIG EAST teams at 19-3 with quality wins over Florida State and South Florida.

The Red Storm arrives with a 15-12 record overall and a 4-3 record in conference play. St. John’s is led by Jackie Ahlers on offense. Ahlers is averaging 4.17 kills per game, which is seventh among BIG EAST players in kills.

The Hurricanes counter with an efficient, balanced offense that leads the conference in terms of kills per game (16.78) and hitting percentage (.273). Miami is also statistically the best in terms of transmuting passes into points. The Hurricanes have the most assists per game in the conference (15.05).
