CORAL GABLES, Fla. –The University of Miami Athletics Web Services department has developed a first-of-a-kind Digital Guide on the Canes athletic programs.

Built for web browsers, as well as iPad and Xoom tablets, the digital guide is a living preview of the UM basketball program. Filled with vivid photography, exclusive videos and a ton of historical perspective, it will quickly become a valuable resource for die-hard Hurricanes fans.

“With the evolving digital landscape and the NCAA’s ruling that printed media guides can no longer be utilized in recruiting, we determined that this format could provide the most wide-ranging usage for our external constituents,” said UM athletics webmaster Tim Vothang. “The process took months of beta testing, but the finished product is something that few, if any college programs can offer, and we are already concluding development for all of our fall sports.”

Miami stopped printing media guides for the majority of its sports prior to the 2010-11 academic year and will not print in 2011-12. In addition to the digital guide, fans can find all of UM’s history and records on HurricaneSports.com for the first time ever.
