2001-2002 (As a Freshman): Yalonda McCormick played in 17 games last season…She averaged 2.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per game…She scored a career-high 12 points and three rebounds in the win over West Virginia (12/4/01) at home…She tallied a career-best of five assists in the win over Georgetown (2/13/02).
High School: Yolanda McCormick is expected to lead Hurricanes at the point position…she averaged 21.5 points, 10.5 assists, 10.1 steals and eight rebounds a game at the guard position…as a junior and senior, she garnered first-team all- state honors while leading her team to two consecutive district championship titles…as the team captain she earned team’s most valuable player and player of the year honors… she led her team to a 26-2 finish last season…was nationally ranked 29th of the top 250 players in the 2001 recruiting class and 5th out of the top 150 point guards in the nation, according to the All Star Girls Report.
