CORAL GABLES, Fla. –
The University of Miami women’s basketball
team never trailed as they easily outdistanced the Mexican National
Team, 104-51, in an exhibition game at the Knight Sports Complex.

Preseason All-BIG EAST first
team selection Kym Hope (Hollywood
McArthur) led all scorers with 22 points off of 9-of-10 shooting,
including 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. Hope, a senior forward,
also
pulled down a game-high eight rebounds and had three blocked shots.

Fellow seniors Jennifer
Jordan, Beth Barnhart and Cassaundra
Wimes all scored in double-figures as the ‘Canes led 47-23 at the half.
Jordan, coming off the bench, scored 18 points, including a game-high
12-of-14 from the free-throw line. Wimes and Barnhart eached
added 11
points. Junior point guard Gina Graziani tallied a game-high
five
assists with no turnovers and eight points.

All five of the Hurricanes
freshmen checked into the ballgame
led by Christal White’s seven points. Toni Williams added six
points,
while Kathryn Fowler scored five and Sheila James and Martha Bodley
two
points.

The Mexican National Team
was led by Erika Gomez’ 16 points and
Beatriz Mejia’s 11.

Miami will finish up the
exhibition season on Thursday, Nov. 12
against Team Miami at 7 p.m. at the Knight Sports Complex. The
‘Canes
begin regular season action on Nov. 18 at FIU.
