Heredia Colon, Rodriguez Earn All-ACC First Team Honors
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Senior Flormarie Heredia Colon and redshirt sophomore Ariana Rodriguez earned All-ACC First Team honors, the conference announced Monday evening.
The AVCA Player of the Year Semifinalist notched her fourth straight All-ACC honor and second first-team selection. From Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she led the NCAA in kills (719), points (8.15), kills per set (6.25) and points per set (7.09) for the majority of the season, while maintaining second in the ACC in aces per set (0.54) and total aces (62).
Heredia Colon also broke the record for all-time career kills with 1,836, while breaking the single season record and was a three-time record breaker for most kills in a match (43).
In addition to her dominant stats, Heredia Colon broke the conference record for most ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors (7) and NCAA D1 regular season record for points per set in the current scoring format.
In her second season playing as a Hurricane, Rodriguez secured her second All-ACC distinction and first first-team selection. She finished the regular season leading the NCAA in total aces (76) and ranking first in the ACC, while fourth in the NCAA, in aces per set (0.63). She also tallied 1,181 assists, good for second in the conference, and earned ACC Setter of the Week three weeks in a row, while also earning Defensive Player of the Week one of those times.
The New York, N.Y., native broke the single season program record for most aces and currently ranks sixth all-time in career assists (2,239).
The Hurricanes earned their 14th NCAA Volleyball Championship bid on Sunday and will face the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. ET in Lawrence, Kan., in the first round of the championship.
