Hurricanes Sweep Boston College
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball team (18-4, 8-3 ACC) swept the Boston College Eagles (15-8, 4-7 ACC), 3-0, on Friday night at the Knight Sports Complex.
The Hurricanes tallied 45 kills, 29 digs and 12 aces. Senior Flormarie Heredia Colon led the team with 23 kills, while redshirt sophomore Ariana Rodriguez notched five aces and 38 assists.
The Hurricanes got off on a good start leading 11-6 on a 4-0 run with two kills from Dalia Wilson. The Eagles fought to keep it close and took the 22-20 lead after a 6-1 run, but a kill from Heredia Colon and ace from Rodriguez tied it back at 22. Miami took it with five straight points for the 25-22 win.
Set two started the same with the Hurricanes leading 15-10 following back-to-back Logan Wiley kills. Boston College began chipping away close to end the set on their own score run but as Miami hit .438 as a team along with 11 digs, they secured the second set, 25-19.
Miami took complete control of the final set, starting off on six straight points as Wilson earned consecutive aces. With four kills from Heredia Colon, the Hurricanes extended their lead to 18-10 and ultimately took the set, 25-16.
The Hurricanes will remain home to host Syracuse on Sunday.
