VB Claims 12th Straight Win, Sweeps Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – The University of Miami volleyball team (12-1, 2-0 ACC) swept the Clemson Tigers (12-2, 0-2 ACC), 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Jervey Gym.

The Hurricanes tallied 42 kills, 39 digs, nine blocks and six aces. Senior Flormarie Heredia Colon led the team with 14 kills, sophomore Logan Wiley had five blocks and redshirt sophomore Ariana Rodriguez tallied 30 assists.

The first set was close to kick off the match, as Rodriguez claimed back-to-back kills and an ace for the 14-12 lead. Amina N’Diaye picked up four kills to help the Hurricanes extend their lead and hold Clemson to a .077 hitting percentage. Miami went on to take set one, 25-19.

Set two started the same way, with Dalia Wilson getting her fifth kill and a solo block for the 12-10 lead and .833 hitting percentage. With numerous errors from the Tigers and the Hurricanes hitting .407 along with four blocks, Miami took set two 25-18.

Clemson opened set three strong, leading 5-2, but after a 10-1 run for the Hurricanes with three aces from Heredia Colon and two kills and a block from Carney, Miami went up 12-7. The Tigers started to cut the deficit, but N’Diaye ultimately secured the 25-18 set win with a kill.

The Hurricanes will remain on the road for ACC play as they face NC State and Wake Forest on Oct. 3 and 5.
