
Miami Records Five Wins on Senior Day at Hurricane Collegiate Invitational
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami track and field team recorded five wins and recognized 13 seniors Saturday as it closed out competition at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational at Cobb Stadium.
Deisiane Teixeira opened the day for the Hurricanes in the women’s javelin finishing second with a throw of 49.75m. Helga Sigurjonsdottir made her season debut in the women’s high jump, registering the fourth-highest clearance in program history at 1.79m to win the event.
Aaron Kim took home first in the high jump as he cleared 1.95m.
The Hurricanes swept the 4×100 meter relays. The women’s team of Juliana Balon, Sophie Haag, Alyssa Robinson and Iyonna Codd won with event in 44.93, while the men’s team of Carter Cukerstein, Ashton Torns, Lance Ward and Caine Stanley posted the program’s second-fastest time at 39.73 to win the event.
Sanaa Hebron took home first in the women’s 400m hurdles at 57.56. Alyssa Robinson finished first in the women’s 100m and Codd finished second at 11.82 and 11.83 seconds, respectively.
Cukerstein finished third overall and first among collegiate runners in the men’s 100m at 10.56. In the men’s 400m, Malone clocked a 46.42 to finish third.
Erikka Hill won the women’s shot put with a throw of 16.00m. Brittney Jennings and Essence Burbridge placed second and third in the women’s 100m hurdle final at 14.00 and 14.28. Serena Tate and Moorer were second and third in the women’s 400m with times of 54.27 and 55.53.
Christina Warren was runner-up in the triple jump with a distance of 13.03m.
Eloise Stuart was runner-up in the women’s 800m at 2:15.89, and in the men’s 800m, Josh Jones placed second at 1:50.86.
In the men’s 3000 Steeplechase, Owin Hirt recorded a win with a time of 10:06.64.
To close out the meet, the men’s 4×400 meter relay of Ace Malone, Sean Watkins Jr., Robert Joseph and George Franks won with a time of 3:10.12
Miami returns to action Friday and Saturday as it heads to Gainesville, Florida, to compete at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
