No. 23 Miami Remains Undefeated in Florida

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 23 University of Miami men’s tennis team (5-2) earned its first sweep of the season, 4-0, against the FGCU Eagles (3-8) at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.

The Hurricanes clinched the doubles point, earning wins on back-to-back courts before claiming singles victories on three courts to secure the sweep.

Junior Nacho Serra Sanchez and sophomore Leonardo Dal Boni defeated Jonathan Baron and Guglielmo Stefanacci on court two, 6-1, before freshmen Mehdi Sadaoui and Jules Garot clinched the opening point, 6-3, at court three against Stavros Hadjivarnava and Harry Michalowski.

No. 48 Martin Katz was first to finish, taking down Hugo Magnusson at the top court, 6-1, 6-1, before Sanchez followed it up with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Stefanacci on court three.

Sadaoui then clinched the match on court five after picking up the dominant 6-1, 6-1 win against Ninad Raut.

Dal Boni was close to winning court four over Pablo Paternostro with a 6-2, 5-1 score, while Prat was up 6-3, 2-1 to Baron and Garot led CJ Smith, 7-6 (4), 1-1.

The Hurricanes are back next Friday, Feb. 28 to host SMU at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center to open ACC play.
