Hurricanes Earn 4-3 Win Against FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team (3-0) battled to win 4-3 over the FAU Owls (0-1) on Thursday evening at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes came out strong, clinching the doubles point after back-to-back court wins. Junior Nacho Serra Sanchez and sophomore Leonardo Dal Boni notched the 6-4 win against Segundo Goity and Lucca Pignaton on court two. Following up on court one, senior Martin Katz and junior Antonio Prat secured the opening point with a 6-4 win over John Bernard and Mark Havlicek.

FAU tied the match at one-all early into singles, before Prat gained the lead back for Miami after a 6-4, 6-3 win over Segundo Goity on court two. The Owls then notched back-to-back courts to lead 3-2 and send the last two courts into a third set.

On court five, Serra Sanchez tied the match at three with an impressive 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 victory against Havlicek. Freshman Mehdi Sadaoui then clinched the 4-3 victory over Luca Miremont at the No. 6 spot, 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-2.

The Hurricanes are back in action Jan. 25 when they travel for ITA Kickoff Weekend and face No. 8 Columbia.
