Junior Antonio Prat captured the Bedford Cup singles title on the University of Florida campus on Sunday afternoon.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Junior Antonio Prat captured the Bedford Cup singles title on the University of Florida campus on Sunday afternoon.

Prat collected four victories for the trophy. He received a bye in the opening match to start his run in the round of 16, where he took down FGCU’s Hugo Magnusson, 6-1, 6-3. Following that, he earned a spot in the semifinals after a 6-3, 6-1 win over FAU’s Mark Havlicek before claiming another victory against Rusher (FSU), 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, for a chance at the Bedford Cup crown. From Pamplona, Spain, Prat came out successful after taking down Elijah Cham (USF), 6-2, 6-3.

Three more Hurricanes competed at the tournament, Mehdi Sadaoui, Maximo Oberto and Leonardo Dal Boni. The newcomer pair of Oberto and Dal Boni took the 6-0 win over UNF’s Benjamin Scott and Spencer Dorosheff, while Prat and Sadaoui grabbed the 6-3 win over Lucca Pignaton and Marek Pazdera (FAU).

Sadaoui also claimed a singles win after the 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 score against USF’s Agustin Cuellar.
